Weekly Engagement-WK 25: The Day of April Fool

Back then, when the April Fool was very much rampant, I was always conscious of not falling for it because I knew my friends would want to trick me and I would always end up falling for it as I didn't know how to do to others but they tend to catch me often since I was the soft-hearted kid.
One of those days, I went to school, forgetting it was the "April Fool" day when I got there, my classmates were all in the assembly hall, and that got me surprise because it was past the assembly time, so I decided to go into the hall and get to know what is happening why they were only the once in the hall. Not to forget that I was always a latecomer back in my secondary school days.
When I got to where they stood, my friends especially, I asked them why they were all sitting and standing in the assembly ground when they were supposed to be in the class having a class.
My friends said, "The principal called everyone in our class out to flog because we refused to point out the person who broke the window glass and the culprit has refused to own up to his or her crime". So the principal said since nobody was owning up to the crime, she was going to flog everybody who was a student of that class.

You could imagine being flogged for something you did not know or do, especially early morning flogging, it never goes down well with me. I was already tearing up and creating a scene because I could not imagine myself getting flogged. Never been the type of girl who is not afraid of a cane no matter how many times I am being flogged, I will always cry at the mention of a cane.
I was so engrossed with getting flogged that I did not notice when my friends were trying hard not to giggle among themselves, but it wasn't working because I was beginning to cry so hard that I was having catarrh run down my nose. They still did not tell me even when they saw how I was reacting to the whole cane talk.
Finally, the principal came to address us and I was shocked when I heard her say something different from what my friends had told me. The actual reason was that she wanted to address us about the upcoming excursion we would be going to and the code of dressing.
To say I was angry was an understatement but as I walked up to them to show them how angry I was, I heard them ask me what day was today and then, it dawned on me that I had been played and I fell big time for it. Lol
During my high school days I was flogged countless times for a crime I didn't commit.

Just made me remember the times I walked into trouble. I'll start questioning who sent me to show up at that time. That thing can pain😂

I always pray never to be at the right place at the wrong time but I guess school will never let such prayers work.
I can not count how many times I have found myself in such trouble and it can be annoying and painful.
