HIVENAIJA WEEKLY PROMPT #24: Inherent Skill

We all have that one skill, either acquired or inherent in us that outshines our other skills and we are almost certain that we can do it better than most people. What skill is that and how has it impacted your daily life?

I have thought so hard about this particular prompt, and it seems I am running in circles because I always come back to "I do not have any skill whatsoever",

But then, is it true that we have people who do not have skills? Hmmm, I do not think that is possible, even if it is not something you are using your hands to do and make money out of it, as long as it is something you do passionately, something that even in your sleep, you can wake up and do it without mistake and enjoy doing it, I think I can call that "skill" to.

Tomorrow my department will be having our first outing, it is actually a picnic but it is our first time outing as a department and this evening when I was discussing it with a close colleague of mine about the whole stuff, and then I told her, I wasn't sure I would be attending, she kind of urged me to be there and then she said, "I bet you tomorrow is going to a be a whole lot of fun, so don't miss it and I will tell the committee to include you as one of the speakers of the event in the "relationship talk show"

I was perplexed, because of all the agenda on the list for the day, she saw only that topic to include my name, I know I talk a lot about relationships, love, and marriage talk, but it is always on a lighter note because most people think that it is only those "in the process" can talk about it, so if one isn't married, in a relationship he or she doesn't have any experiences and as such, his or her knowledge is invalid.

Since I am not in any, I do not like to involve myself in them and if I do, I just jokingly say one or two things and off I go, but she took notice of it and decided that I would be talking about relationships on our picnic outing and I am like Nope, I can not do that, please.

If you are looking for this girl, and you want to know how vast my knowledge is about something, just drop me in a den with people having relationships, love, and marriage talks, you will be seeing another version of me that most people do not know exist at all, I guess it's because I naturally run away from the crowd but then, I am good at what I do.

I remember back down, I had a friend who we quite older than me, she came to me with her relationship talk, and the young me, freely told her what I would do if I were in her shoes and thought she should do and see the outcome. One month later, she came to me smiling with good news about her relationship, not just her, but a lot of people I get in contact with and become close to, I unconsciously begin to advise them on that particular area especially if I notice they are doing too many wrong things and sometimes I feel like I am becoming too much, so I try to reduce how I advise then but funny enough, at the end of the day, I realized that I just got into their relationship business unknowingly. Lol

I wouldn't say I am better than others but I would say I know my ropes, and one reason I am going Into that discipline and digging to know more, about everything I need to know to become better.
