December 2023 recap - Halloween effect confirmed
Again a month has passed. Let me show you how my portfolio did.
Market update
The Halloween effect seems to be clearly there this year, with the prices going up from late October up and until December (and the first two days of January). The total market cap of cryptocurrencies went up from 1.44 tn to 1.72 tn. Bitcoin dominance went down from 52.0% to 51.0%.
Looking at the prices of the individual currencies, Bitcoin went up from $38,350 to $45,100 this month. The price of Ethereum also went up, from $2,090 to $2,375.
2023 recap
Compared to the start of last year, the prices have almost doubled. The total market value went from 800 billion to 1.71 trillion. During this time, BTC dominance went from 39% to 51%, meaning we still seem to be in the Bitcoin season. Would be interesting to see how long that goes on before the Alts really break out (if that is going to happen...).
Current Portfolio
Again I didn't invest more money in Bitcoin and Ethereum. My overall portfolio value is now about €2,400 higher than one month ago. My portfolio shifted towards BTC. My personal BTC "dominance" is down from 46,9% to 48.1%.
In total I have invested €2,600 in Ethereum and Bitcoin, so I'm at a €17,100 overall profit.
I managed to steadily increase my Hive Power holdings from 9,831 to 10,085 HP. The highest amount ever!
Will 2024 be as good of a year for the crypto markets? Or will this turn out to be a false breakout/bull market? We'll find out in the coming recaps.

Haha, if the price goes down again I might do that. For now it gives a good feeling that I won't lose more than half of my investment.

Nice to see your portfolio is up and you broke the 10K HP. Real nice achievement! I sold off a large chunk of my BTC myself early last year to put into a downpayment for a house. Every time I see BTC price history of the past year I feel sad about it :D On the other hand, I now own a house! At least part of it :) Never got rid of any hive assets though :)
A house seems like a good investment to me. And you van live in it, while bitcoin is just code. As long as you didn't really lose a lot on the bitcoin, you still had a good run.
Yes, I'm happy with the progress. It will be interesting to see how 2024 is going to go!
