entry smash 281: shadows and reflections

in some situations you can see an object cast both a shadow and a reflection together

here the reflection of the rock is completely within the shadow

because i am looking at the rock from above

but when viewed from lower down the reflection is much larger while the size of the shadow is pretty much the same

when the reflection is contained within the shadow it is darker than the shadow but seen from lower down the shadow is contained within the reflection so now the shadow is darker than the reflection

what?

i tried to get them to line up together perfectly

but when that didn't work i went swimming instead.
