a walk in the first snow this season
typically we get a little snow in october but it does not last because the ground is not frozen. however the day before halloween we got a blizzard, lots of wind and moderate snowfall. much of the snow melted but eventually enough accumulated to cover the ground and roads.
by the middle of yesterday the wind had let up considerably and the snow had stopped falling so i took a walk to the old naval base which is now a park
even with no sun the place was bright and cheery from the new-fallen snow
such a nice change from the gray dark days we have been having
the snow really helps lighten up the place. night falls early this far north especially since we ended daylight savings time last week
daylight becomes shorter every day now but the worst part is the persistent gray clouds for weeks on end
it's not too cold, just below 0 C but it is icy.
the roads are dangerously slippery in places so i have good boots and watch where i step
and keep mainly on the grass
everywhere is so clean and beautiful
a real delight to see. even the island with the lighthouse is covered in white
i pause to enjoy how the wind made the snow stick to some of the steep rock faces
it started to snow again so i decided to turn around and go back
no hurry though
i won't be able to get out much the next few days and the snow does not usually stay long this time of year so i want to take it all in while i have the chance.
the wind picked up and the snow started coming down heavier as i made my way back home.
These photos are beautiful. I haven’t experienced snow before but I can tell from the photos how cold 🥶 the feeling is to be there ❄️☃️
ah yes it is cold so you need nice warm clothes. it is mostly the wind that makes you really feel the cold. even still winter is a beautiful time of yer

yes and winters are so long here. fortunately so close to the sea they are a little shorter than inland

it will get much colder later, because winter has not really started yet, this is just a little taste to get us used to it. but it is a beautiful time of year and with proper clothing the cold is tolerable. here it is the wind that is the worst part of the winter

we live in norway. it s common to get some snow this time of year but ususally it melts away quickly. i expect it will be gone in a few days and we will get much more when winter is fully upon us

In the city where I live there is no snow, this is something unusual for us. I would love the experience of a walk in the snow.

the first snow is a kind of magic. it changes the surroundings completely and makes them so clean and bright. it is a pleasure to share photos from the experience but the winter is long and we get weary of it so we will go to india for a few months where it is nice and warm

When I say to my husband how much I like snow he always jokes with me that I can go to Norway and enjoy it (as he is not a huge snow lover hehe)
it is very nice to see but it does not last long this time of year here along the coast. now it is supposed to rain here for a few days but in the mountains there will be more snow. soon it will be possible to ski there. so why not come to norway and enjoy

I always enjoy the snow views since in my country has no snow season 😊
each place has its own natural beauty. the snow is both a joy and a difficulty. everything outside becomes more complicated but it is also beautiful and provides for great recreation. norwegians love to go skiing but they also love going south to warmer places in the winter
