Last Batch of 2023

         Remember when I mentioned about Black Friday sales at APMEX almost three weeks ago? I didn't spend as much as I thought I would, but I picked up several pieces. The discount on premium allowed me to pick up a little more silver than I would normally.

         The Coca-Cola-themed bar and round were a must for my collection. I also managed to snatch another Beskar bar for fun. Only 50K 1oz Beskar bars exist in this world.

         Of course, I would never focus so much on collectibles. I made sure I bought some practical pieces of silver. One could never go wrong with some Silver Eagles in their stash. This batch of silver will be the last one for the year of 2023.

         One of the more exciting moments for gold this past weekend was it making a new all-time high. It's since traced back, but still maintained over $2000 per ounce. When it comes to gold's return in fiat, it's dismal. I hope many stackers, would-be or otherwise, understand that you aren't stacking for the fiat value. If you want returns, you are better off elsewhere. In the long term, it's another story. Remember, gold was under $300 at the turn of the century.

         I still think it's good to diversify a portion of your wealth in hard assets. This doesn't mean I'm not a fan of crypto. Crypto, in my view, is an intermediate transfer/representation of value that a third party can't seize. Yes, I understand that many coins have utilities and whatnot, but let's be honest with ourselves. Most of us aren't holding the bulk of our bags for those utilities. I believe many of us want the gains to set up our own homes and be more self-sufficient in our day-to-day operations.

         Speaking of crypto, we may be in for a historical moment. How will crypto fare going into a recession? How will precious metals react to the odd times we live in? We live in fascinating times.
