Weekly Engagement-WK 30: If possibility was a person

I am one of the most fearful people I know, everyone around me knows it, because most times, I get scared of little things that many people do not get scared of and my reactions to those events could make a community of people be on their toes.

I react badly to hide-and-seek games, I react badly to horror movies, I react badly to a bang on my door or an unexpected sound, and I do not welcome these surprises!! play because it gets to me badly, these little things increase the rate of my heartbeat, so that's one of the reasons I do not welcome some play.

The funny thing is that I don't hide it from my friends or siblings they all know the limit they could play with me because I don't want to have issues with someone for playing with me in some kind of way that could lead to me finding ways to catch my breath.

>Now, let's assume you weren’t so afraid of anything, anyone, or even the consequences of your actions. Name three things you’d do if you weren’t so afraid. Go all out and let’s have fun!

Well back to the question of the prompt, apart from these few things I have highlighted here, there are things I wished I had the courage or moral to have learned or done back then, but because of my fear, I could not do them back then and still can not make an attempt to learn them because I am still scared of them.

- Ride Bicycle

You know, my upbringing was strict, and as such, whenever I ended up with wounds or injury from playing roughly since I always play rough play, my parents made sure that I did not have an excuse for not doing what I would have done without the injury.

I was more afraid of the wound I would get if I mounted the bike in a bid to learn how to ride it than any other wound I would sustain as a result of playing roughly, so because of that when my peers were so excited to learn how to ride a bicycle, I was miles away and didn't share in that happiness because I always saw the aftermath of learning how to ride a bicycle. The funny thing is even at my adult age, I am still afraid of learning how to ride it.

So, if I wasn't so afraid of anything, one of the things I would do is learn how to ride a bicycle.

- Swim

There is this adage I tell people, "I love my water inside the cup, bucket, bottle whatever you can mention, must be in small quantities, I do not deal with large bodies of water, and as such I do not involve myself in streams, pools, rivers whatever you may think of because I am afraid of large body water. So, when we go to the stream, I stay at the shore and watch my friends enjoy themselves because I am afraid of water which is why I can not swim.

I have always been afraid of large bodies of water, the thought of traveling through water, is not even an option for me because I would faint too many times before I finally get to my destination, so I never think of it, I get this fright like I am going to fall inside the water whenever I am close to them, so I never get close to waters and as such, I do not know how to swim to save my life. So if there is one thing I want to do is learn how to swim, so I can enjoy the waters like everyone.

- Height Climbing

Oh, please, I freak out whenever I am far away from the ground, so I tell myself this prep that I am never going to build a story building or live in a story building, just going to go for something close to the ground but beautiful because of my fear. Oh Lord, whenever I go visit a friend who lives upstairs I know how much strength it takes not to look down because it feels like I am going to fall from up there.

I have always been afraid of heights, one reason I don't like buildings with staircases is because, for the life of my life, the thought of falling keeps threatening my life, so I can not have it that I die due to falling off a building out of fright.

So, yeah, I would want to try that out too, because when I watch people do it in movies, I am always so perplexed. After all, it looks fun.

Height climbing is what I need courage for a lot. I'm afraid of certain heights and like you said it looks fun in movies.

Why do we have so much in common? I don't like heights nor do I appreciate water. I wanna stop these fears but how can I?
