My attempt using voice-to-text

header4.jpg

Hey everyone!

As I've been slacking a whole lot creating content, a few days ago I gave a try to the voice-to-text app my phone has so help me save time writing.

It was strange but I recorded myself, saved the text in my Notion app so I could grab on my PC and bring the text to Ecency so I could edit it!

So this is me trying to use the voice to text while doing laundry...

It's been a while last time I posted something and I'm always making excuses of course...but I remember a talk on #threads with @anomadsoul and we were fooling around that when I'm not around it's because I'm working doing massages (I'm a spa therapist) and I can't have my phone with me as I can't type so he was playing that I should use voice to text (especially to record some of the funny conversations I have with my clients when they are very talkative) and it reminded me that I have a new phone and it has an app that turns voice into text!

So that's what I'm doing at the moment so while I talk I'm doing laundry and maybe I can use this to save some time because it's not that I have lack of creating content is more like...it's always time management...it always has been a problem for me as my day job is so physical plus being a mom and being a housewife I get so tired at the end of the day that when I have my quiet time as I used to back in the day...I've falling asleep while I'm putting my son to sleep lately and then I wake up I lose the will to do anything not even to write something so using voice to text maybe it helps saving more time for me...

I just need to grab this and correct something probably I'm still talking to it and I'm not looking so we'll see how it goes! So try to create something and use this ability to instead of always typing maybe use the voice to text to save more time and at the same time having my hands free to do something else and then just copy paste into a draft and then correct as much as I can and turning to a post, hopefully!

There are so many resources out there! You can even use AI now to write! Yeah, I'm guilty that I already used it for some posts to complement what I already wrote so yeah I think we have to use as much resources as we can so we can keep creating instead of making excuses!

I've been making excuses for so long that I feel ashamed sometimes and I miss creating content...I do prefer videos though...videos are also a good way and easier way and a quicker way to do so but most of the people at least on Hive I noticed that they prefer the written posts because not everyone has the time to watch, maybe to listen but not to watch and yeah I do like creating videos.

I'll be doing videos as well eventually but sometimes I get, again, so tired my face is like a zombie or like a panda lol so most of the time I don't have "enough face" lol to show myself on camera even though it's easier it's quicker though..

I don't know I'll give this a try and see how it goes...

It seems that most of the things that I'm saying is correct even though my English it's not my first language. The app can adapt to the language I choose, in this case it was American English, because I tried British and it didn't understand me as much as American English probably because of my accent? Probably is more American I don't know lol but we'll see I'm just babbling and see how much that the voice to text can lead me to so yeah...

I'm trying not to make more excuses I'm trying to manage my time better and...yeah...check your phones probably have a voice to text as well!

It wasn't too bad actually just needed to add some punctuation here and there and just correct a few words. Again, it was strange talking to myself on the phone but then again I do the same on videos lol

Should I give this a go? :)

See you next time!

Good job, Eliana! Voice-to-text technology has made a lot of progress in recent years.

I tried using voice-to-text software way back in 2008 or something. In those days it consisted of a CD-ROM (is that what we called them??) and a head-set. First, you had to train the software to get used to your voice. It was good for its day, but nothing like as accurate as what you were able to produce, so I had to spend quite a bit of time correcting the errors. I'm a fast typist, so in the end I gave up using the voice-to-text and went back to typing.

And don't beat yourself up too much about falling behind on content creation. I know exactly what you mean about getting tired after work - and that includes "light" teaching days when I'm only teaching mornings and with no parenting to do when I get home! LOL! Yeah, I'm a real slacker, he he, and have lots of excuses too (because we Brits love making excuses).

Hang in there!

Maybe a combination of voice to text, make spelling corrections, and then let the AI clean it up into a blog post.

@elianaicgomes, My Dad used his Chromebook to dictate the text of his book because at his age and with challenges with his vision, it was easier than typing. And it saves your hands too. Especially you. You need your hands for massage therapy. An awesome resource to have available
