Saturday Savers Club with @sally-saver | No Buy Month Week 3

happy saturday.png

Hello Everyone,

This is an extra edition of the Saturday Savers Club for our September No Buy Month. If you'd like to know more about the Club, scroll down to see the information section at the bottom and all our registered savers. (PS 52 Registered Savers)! 🤑

We launched September No-Buy Month with this post. So far sixteen no-buyers have left a comment so we are doing well! HSBIs on their way to everyone!

So this week there's two things you can do:

  • Let us know in the comments how you are getting on with your no-buy plans? What was the toughest thing? Or may be it was all plain sailing? If you want to write a post and link it below, that's good, too 😁

  • Now, we want to share lots of hints and tips, so this week, I'd like some no-buy ideas for social and leisure activities (@hoosie needs this, especially)! Let's take it a little bit further and say it can be low-buy as well as no-buy. For example, if you usually meet friends for a meal out, perhaps a low-buy activity might be to have a bring and share at each other's houses).

Again, let us know in the comments, or add a post if you want.

An HSBI sponsored by @shanibeer for everyone who takes part.

Good luck, everyone! 😍

Remember to check the comments in last week's post for some good tips!

You Can Still Take Part in the No-Buy Month

Here's what to do:

Leave a comment below with your no-buy rules and your target for the percentage of savings you would like to make during the month. If you prefer you can make a separate post and link it in a comment. An HSBI sponsored by @shanibeer for relevant comments and posts.

You can find more No Buy information in the table at the bottom of this post - weeks 35-39.

Okay. This week I flopped again.

I bought the necessities and all, replacing foodstuff and some toiletries. I think I may have to start on Weekly budgeting for grocery shopping. Here’s what I didn’t buy…

Chocolates
Cookies
Sweets
Sodas

I however bought one more doughnut because…I think I’m addicted. And I drank Hot Cocoa for breakfast with Bun rolls. But these were from the house. We buy these things and keep just like Bread!

I did not buy Cable (thank God) or Irish Potatoes (as we call them here) despite how delicious they are and I almost want to eat them daily.

The tough part for me this week that I have to look into is Data plans. We don’t have unlimited data here (those that are available are very expensive almost $100 dollars monthly - and that’s about N80,000 - N85,000 here so I stick to a very limited but effective bundle).

Don’t know if I should create a channel for saving for my data. What do you think @tengolotodo? One more account sending some HBD for Data plans? 🤔 sounds feasible! Or is it unnecessary?

I'm struggling to see where you flopped? 🤔

Looks like a pretty good week to me, plus you're beginning to see where you can help yourself, like with the idea for budgeting for grocery shopping 😍

So far, No Buy September has panned out exactly as I hoped.

The only thing I've spent any real money on was going to a friend's wedding on the Isle of Wight, but that was planned long in advance and is kind of an unavoidable expense if we want to stay friends ! But we did it as economically as possible, picking unpopular ferry crossing times (which are cheaper), and doing the whole expedition as a single day trip rather than staying for the party afterwards and having to pay for overnight accommodation (which is expensive there !)

Apart from that, I've watched the HIVE price start to climb, briefly wondered if I should break the No Buy rule and get some before it gets more expensive, and then realised that's the exact definition of FOMO and resisted. 😀

the exact definition of FOMO and resisted

😁 - absolutely well done.

I'll be waiting until it drops under .20 USD. That's the next price point for me.

I tryed my best tis week, but some needs had to be brought.
But i managed to make my lunch for work everyday of the week at home, so i could so I could do without buying anything extra. Especially small things that are absolutely not necessary 😂

I have kind of thought out the plan so far I continue with it.

  1. Content
  2. Comment
  3. Curation

Though I can't do much as I have to think of day job and other commitments. But slow and steady these three is how I am managing the things. It's a good experience so far in these 3 weeks with the the EDS journey. :)

I am currently on vacation, so its not easy with no buy.

But I had some post before:
Don't throw things away, repair them or make something out of them.

I have plant a lot and when we are back I can harvest my Peperoni, so I don't need to buy.

I had two mistakes this month hahaha I bought a small gift and a course, but both were at a great discount, if I bought them later they would be twice as expensive, luckily there is less to go hahaha

I am not in for no buys this time, having kids and needs makes ir complicated :D
Still we are living low and this is my report as usual:
https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@noctury/my-weekly-hive-progress-and-goals-61

For no buys at least i can say. I work from home, my lunch is the dinner from yesterday and it is better than what i would get if i would buy me lunch :D

Yesterday I failed and bought a box of markers. I have as an excuse (bad excuse🤭) that I would have bought a lot of other things and resisted the temptation.
I haven't spent anything else, apart from what is strictly necessary for the house. 😊
