Sun is anti-depressive

morningSun.jpg

Did you know that the Sun makes us happy? Its chemical, and biological I guess. We gotta get that sun on our skin, and the energy absorbed into our bodies. Its good for us!

Its funny, but I read this thing where 'depression' is thought to be a myth my many living in the tropics. Here's some anecdotal evidence:

After reading it, I went and stood in the sun with my shirt off for 5 minutes. Wow, it did make me happy!

Lots of people in my twitter circles are talking about how great it is to live in Latin America. I am quite happy about it too.

Don't get me wrong, there is beauty in winter. Sometimes I miss it. But in the end, I think I enjoy the pictures more. Here's a great one my dad sent me:

Wow!

I love this property my dad has, and I like to visit it in summer/fall. No grilling out on the deck this time of year!

And yes, I checked in with my dad and he has a freezer full of beef so he'll make it through until spring. He might even come visit me soon.

Yesterday we went up to Murillo, two miles above sea level. The town has a different energy, and is getting a lot of tourism lately, more on this soon as we look at adding a property in Murillo into the EcoBank.

Some afternoon gardening (for fun!) was captured on camera by me, and as a result these entrepid women came back to Libano with many plants and cuttings.

I wish you all the very best in 2024 - the sun will come out (tomorrow), and if not, consider a tropical vacation.

Freedom and Friendship

Yes. They say you get more of Vitamin D from sun. Infact a good remedy for diseases.

I think that is why we have carnival in Brazil, the tropical mammoth of this world.

I have never heard of the sun used as anti depression.

Seeing this wants to make me go in the sun in the morning of cos because when it's 12 noon, the sun gets scorching that you can feel the hotness of your bedroom wall.

Thanks for sharing.

Hey, there are so many things that make us (that is our bodies) happy. And your post is hinting at a few of them. The sun you explained, and I could not agree more. But your last pic suggests gardening, meaning getting dirt under your fingernails, or let's say, getting your skin directly in contact with the healthy soil! Oh, and that winter wonderland you posted has its own way to make you happy, recalling my recent post about ice swimming...

I didn't even think of it, but touching healthy soil is probably super healthy, it sure makes me feel good!

I think you are right, there are ancient ways of connecting with our physical environment that just make us feel better. What beauty!

Especially in winter we all need the sun a lot, it gives strength to our body and has many other benefits.
