Exchanges Transfers Report | Transfers to and from exchanges by date and accounts
This is a report for Hive transfers to and from exchanges in the last period. We will be looking at the data for the amount of daily Hive transferred to and from exchanges and by user. From here we can have indication who is buying who is selling. Although deposits and withdrawals to exchanges are not 100% buys or sells.
Here we will be looking at the transfers to and from exchanges in 2021 with a closer focus to the last days.
Here we will be looking at the following:
- Daily transfers to exchanges
- Monthly transfers to exchanges
- Top accounts that deposited to exchanges
- Daily withdrawals from exchanges
- Monthly withto exchanges
- Top accounts that withdraw from exchanges
- Net deposits/withdrawals
Exchanges taken in the analysis: Binance, Huobi, Bittrex, Upbit, Probit, Ionomy, MXC, gate.io and Indodax. There are few more exchanges but the volume there is quite low.
Daily transfers/deposits to exchanges
Here is the chart for the daily transfers/deposits to exchanges.
Note: Transfers between exchanges accounts are excluded from the data above.
It is hard to see the trend here because of the spikes, but overall, it looks like it is down. Less Hive has been transferred to exchanges in the last months, then the start of the year.
If we look at the monthly chart we have this.
From here we can see the trend more easily. Hive transfers to exchanges have been going down. More then 8M Hive was deposited to exchanges in January 2021, and we have almost 6M in June 2021.
This doesn’t mean that that there is less Hive on exchanges now, for that to happen we need the withdrawals to be bigger than deposits.
Top accounts that deposited to exchanges
Who has transferred the most funds to exchanges? Here is the chart for the last 30 days.
Note: Exchange to exchange transfers are excluded. Those are usually the largest transfers.
The @self-power.com account is on the top here with 1.7M, followed by the @hivekorea account. These accounts might doing some exchanges services, or arbitrage, but it is not an official exchanges account as I know.
Daily withdrawals from exchanges
What about withdrawals from exchanges? How much is been withdrawn and by who?
Here is the chart for the daily withdrawals to exchanges.
As for the above, here as well the transfers between exchanges accounts are excluded.
The monthly chart looks like this.
There has been an up trend in withdrawals up to May 2021, and a drop in June. In May there was 6.6M withdrawn from exchanges and in June 4M.
Top accounts that withdrawn from exchanges
Who has withdrawn the most funds from exchanges? Here is the chart for the last 30 days.
Note: Exchange to exchange transfers are excluded. Those are usually the largest transfers.
The @darthknight account is on the top with almost 500k Hive withdrawn from exchanges in the period, followed by @smooth.
Net deposits/withdrawals
The net deposit/withdrawals chart looks like this.
As for the other chart here as well transfers between exchanges account are excluded.
Positive bar means more funds are withdrawn from exchanges on that day, negative bar is more funds deposited to exchanges.
More days with more deposits to exchanges than withdrawals. Although in May 2021 there were more withdrawals then deposits to exchanges. Since the start of the year around 11M more Hive was transferred to exchanges, or somewhere around 2M per month, although as mentioned some months are net positives for withdrawals.
In April 2020 there was around 106M HIVE on exchanges and now there is around 134M HIVE on exchanges. A total of 28M more HIVE was added on exchanges since the fork. In 2021 alone there is 11M more Hive transferred to exchanges, with some signs for the trend slowing down.
A total of 35% (134M) of the Hive supply (383M) is now on exchanges, while 37% (141M) is powered up.
All the best

Looking at block explorer for @hivekorea @jupiter70 and @hivehbd it is easy to see that these are all hbd/hive arbitrage bots. @nomad may be too, but can't recall for sure now, I saw the others a while back while looking at activity of arb bots on hive's internal exchange. @orinoco and @blocktrades are both "instant" exchanges (market makers), of course. As for @self-power.com, it is hard to say for sure, but probably just an active manual trader.
Yes, I was guessing it is something like that.
