Sealed Mode gets revised reward structure

Sealed Mode gets revised reward structure

If you read my previous post on Sealed Mode you know that the amount of gods you were able to get was not plentiful, to say the least. But now they have revised it, let us take a look at how it is looking now.

The new rewards

I can only assume that the community at large was not too thrilled about the initial reward structure and started to let the Gods Unchained team know this. And the team changed the reward structure to a more generous $GODS reward. But let us take a look at it.

Reward

The new $GODS rewards allow players to "break-even" at 5 mins instead of 7 as was with the first one. If we compare the two we see that the first reward tire to change is with 4 wins. Now you will receive 7,5 gods instead of 6. And there are actually two tires now where you will earn gods, 6 and 7 wins. Whereas with the old one that was 7 wins only.

Let us take a look at how big of a $GODS sink this new play mode will be with the revised reward structure. On average players will get 3 wins, and there you still get 3 $GODS. Meaning you have "lost" 12 $GODS. This puts it at a 4:1 ratio. This only further cements that people will most likely not play this game mode to earn $GODS. But instead, I think the vast majority of players will play this to try and get the new expansion packs, and perhaps some cosmetics. That is more or less the only way you will be able to truly get more out then what you put in.

There is one last thing I would like to briefly mention, and that is the fact that a lot of the events and whatnot that the Gods Unchained team makes tends to be cleverly flawed. So to the extent that the community more or less forces them to change them. I mean just look at the "community event" that was held. While I understand why they did it the way they did, it was just completely baffling if they thought the community would not react to it. And the same I would argue is true here. What I fear is that it strategy they have adopted. The whole Give them shit and they will settle for crumbs. But as usual, it might just be making a hen out of a feather.

But I would love to hear what you make of this change, will you now play more? Or is it still same same for you? Please let me know in the comment section below.

Very tempting to try but I probably would prefer not to spend GODS. The bull market is probably not far. 4 wins on average at best (for an experience player) won't return the cost of the buy-in. And it's normal. GU isn't a charity but a company that sells and again sells. Thus, the mode is constructed to make people lose money (in exchange of fun, of course, like online poker or casino). And I am a play2earn player, I don't want to spend all I earn.

Skills are almost the same in this shrunk playerbase, randomness will cover them.

We are still only in face 1 of the bull market as far as I can tell. But yea. Al tho no real idea what GU will do in the next bull run. Kind of hard to speculate. I think it all comes down to the mobile app and how it does. But I do agree with you not playing the mode, as I am planing to do the same. I still lack so many cards that I most likely will spend my gods on getting new cards.

I guess, from the point of profit, the next bull run is the main destination for GU. They will wait for the altseason to sell all tokens they have when $GODS will skyrocket. The rest things like sets, modes, etc are probably just a way to that golden time. Just a theory, no insider information.

I am still not completely not bought into this sealed mode and my primary reason is RNG. And the least reason that I have in mind is spending. Maybe if they lower it to 5 GODS then I would be willing to try, could it be impossible to lower it to 5 GODS?

With so many cards in the game, RNG will be a major factor. I mean if you have bad cards you can be the best deckbuilder in the world and still not make a good deck.

Sure they could lower it to 5, but then they would most likely slash the rewards in a similar way to match. So you would still be as incentivized to play. There are some streamers that play the mode so maybe watch them a little to get a better feel for it. That way you don't have to pay to play so to speak.

So it means that the current 15 GODS and the current rewards are proportional? I might watch some streams then.

It means that GU has set the rewards according to the level they see fit. If they now would make the cost to play cheaper they would most likely slash the rewards to reflect that. I have not done any math to see if the cost matches the rewards. Pretty hard to do with custom card packs and cosmetics that are new. Maybe further down the line, you can get a value for the cosmetics, and maybe you could do a rough value of the expansion cards. But I am not sure it if would be worth the effort. I think the easiest way is to just look at the gods, 5 win means you're even, If you're below that you need to get some good cards to compensate. But most likely that's not happening. So 5 wins are even and the cosmetics are RNG, then the legendaries can be good.

The players I have talked to say in the packs you get both the core cards and the latest expansion cards. So the is no either or part there. Meaning I think most will play after a new expansion is out.

But I am not sure it if would be worth the effort

I see, I did read some of the players' comments that they would be more willing to play when the next expansion comes out. With that being said, I am inclined to also play when the new expansion is released.

Same here. If I play it will be then.
