Funfriday with the funny bunny and and some funny marketing battle

Hey dear readers it's #funfriday, so lets have some fun witht the bunnies. I found this bunny on a short evening walk this week. I know it as the Duracell bunny.

Maybe you know it as Energizer bunny, depending on where you're from or in which time you grew up. When I see the bunny, I always think of the Volswagen commercial for the Beetle which says in German "und läuft und läuft und läuft". In English it's "and runs and runs and runs". I think that would fit to Duracell very well too.

Back at home I did some research and found some interesting facts about the bunnies. I watched some old commercials on Youtube:

It got even more interesting when I learned that the bunny was copied by Energizer. Here is a very interesting Youtube video about how marketing and marketing battles can work.


But know back to the bunny I found that day and the questions I asked.

Who does the bunny belong to?
Is it being charged here?
Who put him on the post?
Why is the bunny not locked?
Why isn't there a battery in it, as shown in the advertisement?

So many questions but no answers. It's your turn know!

Curious post, infinite situations could be and perhaps we would never get to the origin and purpose. But it's fun I will digress into some answers:
-A child who has reserved his dad's spot to park his vehicle.
-It's a more practical, functional, and less expensive version that doesn't require batteries.
-The child had an urgent need and left his bunny there to pick it up later.
-It's from a forgetful dad.
-Friends of the bunny's owner made a game, whose prize was to find the bunny, but the night came and he had to go home.
Well, some answers, thanks for stimulating my senses through imagination, I had fun with it.

The short answer is: Nothing, I left it as it was.
My first thought was what would I get on ebay, the second thought was like it's not worth the effort and my third thought: Don't be a hoarder. 😀

What an interesting find! It's clear to me that this bunny was kidnapped by a bunch of criminals and trapped inside of this evil contraption. While the lack of a tight grip may give the bunny the illusion of freedom, it has nowhere to escape on its own and requires the help of a brave child, its only savior.

By the way, I had no idea that Duracell originally had a similar bunny as part of its marketing campaign. Energizer must have had a very smart marketing team who understood just how to exploit this concept, as I associate this only with Energizer now.
