**Green Peas Pulao **

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup regular rice

  • 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 tomatoes, chopped

  • 3 green chilies, finely chopped

  • 1-inch ginger, grated

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds

  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds.

  • 8 black paper

  • 2 tej patta

  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala

  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder

  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the regular rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 5 minutes,

  1. In a large pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds ,fennel seeds black paper , tej patta and let them splutter.

  2. Add sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

  1. Stir in grated ginger and minced garlic. Sauté for a minute until the raw aroma disappears.
  1. Add chopped tomatoes and green chilies. Cook until the tomatoes become soft.
  1. Toss in the green peas and cook for a couple of minutes.
  1. Add garam masala, and coriander powder. Mix well to coat the peas with the spices.

  1. Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Gently stir to combine the rice with the peas and spices.

  1. Pour 2 cups of water into the pan and season with salt. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid and let it simmer until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed. Or (Ring the whistle twice in the cooker.)

  2. Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
