Trying To Get Someone I Know Active On Hive

Today I had a coffee meet up with someone I have known for about 10 years via the business world. He is the only person who knows I am involved in crypto and he asks from time to time how it is going. The meet up today was on his request because he wants to get involved.

I have spoken to him before about Hive and he has shown some interest, but nothing serious and thought it must be the Bitcoin price that is making him anxious sitting this one out. He bought Ethereum around 3 years ago without my knowledge and then panicked an sold it at a loss. I told him when he told me his story that he should have asked first and in future pick up the phone and I will help wherever I can. At least we have learned the crypto cycle of when and when not to buy.

I showed him the real basics today and nothing that I thought would come across as too daunting and he was already lost within the first few minutes. When he asked is there any other options I knew he is not ready for Hive and maybe never will be.

I showed him my COTI Treasury staking and explained how it worked and he was sold immediately. The problem with Hive he could not understand it and it made no real sense, but COTI he understood immediately as this is pure staking and earning rewards.

I mentioned to him I will try and simplify Hive for him, but what I showed him was the pure basics and the thought of having to work at growing scared him. When I first joined Hive I was also apprehensive and only once you start to learn does that fear fade away. He is of a similar age to myself and I understand Hive is a mind bender and a bit out there to understand and you won't get it at your first grasp.

This friend of mine was about the 4th person I have tried getting to join Hive and I am still sitting on zero success rate. Even though I have said I would not try sell Hive anymore to people I know unless they are seriously ready and thought maybe he could be the first. I will try and have another crack at him next month once he has his COTI stake up and running which he plans to have by next week. Hive for people of my generation seems a step too far now and at some point I think they will get involved when the masses are involved in crypto.

Taking baby steps for now and once he sees the rewards being earned via an APR on the COTI Treasury it will change his mind about giving Hive another shot. All is not lost and if he is open to staking crypto then he will be open for learning Hive and just needs to see it for what it is.

It's really cool to hear about your coffee meet-up and your efforts to introduce your friend to the crypto world, especially with Hive.

It's understandable that some people find it a bit daunting at first, but it's awesome that you're trying to simplify it for him.

Keep up the great work, and hopefully, your friend will soon see the potential in Hive!

Baby steps for now as at least by next week he will have some stake in crypto. Then I can work on him for his next move into Hive as he said he wanted a 10 year crypto plan for retirement.

It will have to be the apps that onboard people. Gamers join games. Bloggers join blogs and social media users join leo.

No point in trying to introduce hive itself.

The multiple logins here have scared away a lot of people. Initially it did for me as well but after a bit of time I understand why it cannot simply be a case of username/simpleandeasytoguesspassword ... I think there was a team that was working on a simple front end years ago but the people who used it couldn't claim any rewards until they figured out the way the system really works.

It has been really tough for me to get people involved as well because the idea of multiple login keys is tough for a lot of people to understand. These people likely shouldn't get involved in crypto until they understand them a bit more IMO. When people ask me about it I tell them I am happy to help but they are going to have to do a bit of learnin' on their own as well. This isn't facebook.
