Doing The Right Thing

Yesterday the official VeChain Twitter (X) account was compromised for a short while and people actually fell for this. When something is too good to be true it normally is and why even if it is the official account it should always be ignored. This is an old type of scam we have seen many times before where they offer to double your deposit and no one would do that. Greed and inexperience will always catch some people out and it is normally the ones who cannot really afford to lose any crypto.

As a result of your excellent efforts, only a few transactions were sent to the VET address, and none sent to the ETH address.

To the individuals who sent transactions, your details have been noted and we will automatically reimburse you 1:1 for the full value of VET sent - you do not need to take any action.

Nowhere to hide when it is your own error.

The good thing about this is VeChain rectified this reimbursing those who fell for the scam without any fuss by checking the transactions on the blockchain. This was good for publicity showing those investors they do have your back. This is how things should be done especially if it is your own fault like in this case where VeChain made a mistake allowing their account to be taken over temporarily. We know not everyone acts in this way and sometimes we have to fight and old our ground.

The good thing about this example is the VeChain team owned their mistake and rectified this immediately and lessons would have been learned. Unfortunately we have opportunists around in crypto and do think it will be even more worrying when crypto has more value. I am always concerned regarding security even at these low prices so I can only imagine when we start adding zeros how I will be feeling then. Lessons are only learned when it costs you and no one likes to see anyone losing money.

A while back I lost some tokens on Huobi which showed the transaction having gone through. I queried with the customer services and supplied all relevant information which they could see on their side. They then asked for a video clip of what I had sent and that is when I knew I was being screwed around. If it was more I would have taken it further, but it was literally $10 worth. The error was on their side and they could have owned up rectifying their error like VeChain did.

I was eventually refunded about 8 weeks later, but they lost my business through their actions and try to avoid using them wherever I can. The trust is just not there and the exchange is still not 100% operational with many tokens still not being allowed to be withdrawn or deposited. This happened over 2 months ago now since their so called "hack" which has to be questionable now the longer the exchange is not up to speed.
