Fishing Thai-style!

OK, What Are We Doing . . .

Back in America when you think fishing, it usually involves poles, bait, maybe a boat. Thailand? Not so much!

Yesterday evening we headed to one of our ponds with some blue things that had me a bit confused.

When I asked what they were, I got a smile and told "make suprise for you". That response can make this old cowboy nervous! 🤠

We put some fish pellets wrapped in netting inside, and put them in the shallow water anchored with a pvc pole.

When I asked now what, same response - "make suprise" - and we headed back to the house.

A Breakfast "Suprise" . . .

Work on the farm usually starts about 5:30 in the morning to beat the heat. However, this morning it was unusually quiet. So much so that I didn't crawl out of the mosquito netting until almost 7:00!

When I did, I saw Peng and two other ladies gathered around the blue nets, all excited. (This is why you wear pajama pants. Never know who might be wandering around the farm!)

After I put on jeans, I went to see what the "suprise" was.

Fresh water shrimp! Dozens of small ones, and I didn't even know we had them on the farm!

The women headed into the patio kitchen, still excited, and told me to drink my coffee and wait. 😆

Then they brought out 'breakfast' . . .

OK, I have eaten bugs deep fried in chilli oil, various kinds of meat (I didn't ask) on a stick but . . .

Watching 'breakfast' flopping around (not cooked, just spices added) on the plate? Maybe not! Everyone else enjoyed it though.

Would YOU try it? Let me know in the comments!
.

Best Regards

Richard Taylor

I am sorry, but I am not eating anything that is still alive! Or uncooked, for that matter. That would have definately been a surprise.

There is a dish here that uses raw organ meat (liver, heart, etc.) served mostly up north by Cambodia. I will eat most things, but there is a line I can't cross!

Thanks for the comment!
