I could start with this article explaining how the first round of the Brasileirão went, highlighting some very interesting matches, but we are talking about Brazil and here things are going differently than they should be. The curious thing is that for us Brazilians it has already reached a level that even for us goes beyond the margin of distrust.

Unfortunately, refereeing is the protagonist in the most important football competition in Brazil. We are in the third round of the competition and I highlight that not just one game, but three matches were decided in a confusing way and giving fans distrust in the first round.

It's incredible, we are at the beginning of the competition and in just one round, three referees were dismissed by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) after scandalous mistakes and ill-intentioned tendencies. What may scare some readers from other places is understanding that we are still in the first round of Brasileirão 2024. Yes, I'm highlighting this because it's complete nonsense.

VAR as a Support Instrument

VAR is an instrument that should assist the field referee in some cases, but the refereeing team in the VAR room becomes more important in making decisions regarding parts of the match and the feeling we have is of that field referees do not want to have personality and make their own decisions.

Offside bids, for example, where on certain occasions it is quite easy to identify, "bandeirinha" decides to let the VAR be responsible for deciding whether the bid is in fact offside or not. Without forgetting that the lines drawn for attack and defense are in some cases quite questionable.

When Will Arbitration Errors Reduce?

The professionalization of arbitration is something we can discuss, but I believe that here in Brazil this will never happen. I learned that in England, where the biggest football competition in the world is located, the referees there are professionals in their field.

But here it just won't happen because the clubs themselves won't want this for the simple fact that if the referees have their profession with a formal contract, the presidents and coaches will no longer have anyone to blame for their incompetence.

The three referees of the first round, Flávio Rodrigues de Souza, who refereed Vasco x Grêmio, André Luiz Skettino, responsible for the Atlético-GO x Flamengo match, and Yuri Elino, from Corinthians x Atlético-MG, were punished and removed. It won't take long for them to referee a Series A match again, because if these absences continue in the next rounds, there will be no discretion left to referee the games.

Professionalization is and can be a way to perhaps resolve a large part of these grotesque errors, but also unfortunately, increasingly these moves decided by the whistle in a scandalous and absurd way, give room for fans to strengthen the thought that referees may be also involved in manipulation. So far there is nothing concrete about this, but the thoughts exist.

Eu poderia começar com este artigo explicando como foi a primeira rodada do Brasileirão, destacando algumas partidas muito interessantes, mas estamos falando de Brasil e aqui as coisas andam de modo diferente do que deveria ser. O curioso é que para nós brasileiros já chegou a um nível de que até para nós ultrapassa a margem da desconfiança.

Infelizmente a arbitragem é a protagonista diante da competição mais importante do futebol do Brasil. Estamos na terceira rodada da competição e destaco que não de apenas um jogo, mas três partidas foram decididas de forma confusa e dando desconfiança por parte dos torcedores logo na primeira rodada.

É incrível, estamos no início da competição e em apenas uma rodada, três árbitros foram afastados pela Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) após erros escandalosos e com tendências mal intencionadas. O que pode assustar alguns leitores de outros lugares é entender de que estamos na primeira rodada do Brasileirão 2024 ainda. Sim, estou enfatizando isso por ser um absurdo completo.

O VAR Como Instrumento de Suporte

O VAR é um instrumento que deveria auxiliar em alguns casos o árbitro de campo, mas a equipe de arbitragem que está na sala do VAR se torna mais importante em tomadas de decisões por lances da partida e a sensação que temos é de que os árbitros de campo não querem ter personalidade e assumir suas próprias decisões.

Lances de impedimento por exemplo onde o em certas ocasiões fica bastante fácil identificar, o "bandeirinha" resolve deixar que o VAR se responsabilize em decidir se o lance é de fato impedimento ou não. Sem esquecer que as linhas traçadas do ataque e defesa são em alguns casos bastante questionáveis.

Quando Os Erros De Arbitragem Irá Diminuir?

A profissionalização da arbitragem é algo que podemos discutir, mas acredito que aqui no Brasil isso nunca irá acontecer. Soube que na Inglaterra onde está a maior competição de futebol do mundo, lá os árbitros são profissionais em sua área.

Mas aqui só não irá acontecer porque os próprios clubes não vão querer isso pelo simples fato de que caso os árbitros tenham sua profissão com carteira assinada, os presidentes e técnicos não terão mais ninguém para culpar por sua incompetência.

Concluindo

Os três árbitros da primeira rodada, o Flávio Rodrigues de Souza, que apitou Vasco x Grêmio, André Luiz Skettino, da partida Atlético-GO x Flamengo, e Yuri Elino, de Corinthians x Atlético-MG, foram punidos e afastados. Não irá demorar muito para voltarem a apitar uma partida da Série A, pois caso esses afastamentos continuem nas próximas rodadas, não vai sobrar nenhum arbítrio para apitar os jogos.

A profissionalização é e pode ser um caminho para talvez resolver uma grande parte desses erros grotescos, mas também infelizmente cada vez mais esses lances decididos pelo apito de forma escandalosa e absurda, dão margem para que os torcedores fortaleçam o pensamento de que os árbitros podem estar também envolvidos em manipulação. Até agora não tem nada concreto sobre isso, mas os pensamentos existem.
