I would say it's mostly experienced players who have become more hesitant to buy cards. It's also no longer really needed I would argue at the moment, you can have 1 really overall strong deck along with some rented staked SPS and climb the rankings. New players more look at the possible ROI which in Modern likely is ok due to the limited player base and high SPS rewards, but aside from that everything pretty much has been nerfed to the ground with the next part being that gladius cards can no longer be converted to DEC from what I have heard.
