Playoffs Week 4 Saturday Previews

These are previews from matches involving Belgian Teams with all the latest on team news, player form, injuries along with my personal betting angles, ...

4 matches today as yesterday was the final week of the 2nd division regular season with many matches played at the same time.

OH Leuven vs Sint-Truiden

OLH has nothing to play for but still managed to win 2-1 last week against top favorite AA Gent and from the looks of it they want to avoid totally dropping the focus in these playoffs. They will be without Pletnickx today who is their best defender and Maertens looks to be fully back which makes a difference on the offensive end. Stvv played a 3-3 draw at home against Standard after winning 2-3 and 2-0 in the matches before. They are just at a 3-point gap but with many players likely leaving it remains a question where their real ambitions are. There have been many crazy high-scoring playoff 2 matches and it feels like the lines haven't fully caught on yet. I took a 0.2 unit bet on Over 3.5 @ 2.937 as I do expect both teams to just go for it.

Westerlo vs Standard

Both teams have nothing to play for in this match and Westerlo has lost all matches so far with 3-2 / 0-3 / 2-0. At least they started scoring last match which is something. They are however without Madsen and Vermant of which especially the 1st might be hard to replace. Standard is in a similar situation with many defenders out (Fosey / Ngoy / Vanheusden) while players as Alzate & Djenepo are having an bench status due to poor motivation. They did play a good match last week and did manage to get the draw in the previous 2 matches. This is anyone game and I'm once again going with the Crazy Playoff 2 Over angle. I took 0.2 units on Over 3.5 @ 2.823 as I do anticipate another match where teams are willing to attack without being too focused on the defense. I might add on this position in-game.

AA Gent vs Kv Mechelen

This is the match between the 2 main candidates to win Playoff 2 with Mechelen just 1 point behind on AA Gent. AA Gent had somewhat of an off-match last week away against OH Leuven but not to the point where its a worry. They have Kums back in the midfield who is important. Mechelen has very strange matches so far with each of them ending in a 3-2 or 2-3 score where one of the teams took a 2-0 or 0-2 lead. Last week they needed a red card for the opponent to be able to make that up and over 90 minutes they always had periods where they were good but also moments where they were very sloppy defensively. My lean is on AA Gent and the Over but the odds are not at a point (-1 and O3) where I see much edge believing int might be possible to catch something better in-game. No Pre-Game Bets

Genk vs Anderlecht

Genk so far took two narrow 1-0 wins and a 1-1 draw against Cercle last week which they always should have won even though they didn't play too well. The things that came out of these 3 matches is that they aren't giving too much away (aside from that unneeded goal against Cercle) and I do expect this trend to continue. Offensively they are still not what they once used to be. Anderlecht really has had the 'luck of the champion' with a last-minute winner against Union which set them 3 points clear in the lead. Hazard got injured last match and Amuzu who is fit again should take his place. They tend to keep things closed and win matches on individual class. They are without Debast who is suspended. A draw in this match would not be the worst result in the world for both and I don't expect crazy risks to be taken. If anything, Anderlecht has shown very good maturity and I don't see Genk as good as Club Brugge who Anderlecht lost 3-1 against in their previous away match. I took 0.2 units on Anderlecht +0.25 @ 2.063 along with 0.1 unit on 1H Under 1.25 @ 1.783 & 0.1 unit on Under 2.75 @ 1.900
