Belgian League 2023-2024 | News & Transfers Update

I'm trying to keep up to date with all the transfer news happening in the Belgian League during the summer bringing weekly reports on it with an eye on beating the Betting Market in the 2023-2024 Season once again ...

I have highly enjoyed the Sorare Fantasy Football NFT Play2Earn game last season and can recommend it to everyone who is a football fan and watches many matches as it certainly gives them an added dimension. I'm also using the transfer window to possibly pick up some good deals along the way.

Biggest News & Transfers So Far...

FC Antwerp

They so far did 2 transfers with Jacob Ondrejka who is a 20-year-old winger and also Senne Lammens who is a young talented goalkeeper who was benched and blocked by Mignolet in Club Brugge. The situation is a bit similar to Verbruggen with the difference that Mignolet is better than Van Crombrugge. I did pick up a Limited Copy of Lammens in Sorare for ~21€ as young goalkeepers tend to be wanted especially if they end up playing. There is a lot of talk about Butez making a transfer higher up which would make Lammens 1st Goalkeeper. So far Wilian Pacho left, Haroun and Myoshi their his contract ended and Gerkens was transfered to AA Gent.

Racing Genk

The only transfer Racing Genk did so far was to get defender Kayembe from Charleroi. There will probably be way more incoming and outgoing moves as some players that had a great season can make a nice transfer while they really need better options in the striker position. So far, only Senne Lammens left but many are likely to follow.

Union SG

This might be the time where many of the good players in their team are looking to make a transfer as the salaries in Union are capped. So far they have been good in replacing good players that leave but at some point it feels like they won't be as strong anymore. So far from what I can see 3 incoming transfers have been done with Henok Teklab (Preussen Münster) – Tiago Lopes Gomes (Betekom) – Elton Kabangu (Willem II) while Adingra will go back to Brighton with others quite likely following to have a transfer.

Club Brugge

They got De Cuyper back from Westerlo where he was the revelation of the season. They also god Standard Coach Deila already during the playoffs and recently got Michal Skoras (Lech Poznan) who is a 23-year-old Midfielder. Today they also announced Igor Thiago who comes from Ludogorets and is a 21-year-old striker.

AA Gent

The contracts of Marreh and Odidja did not get extended while they got Gerkens from Antwerp which was somewhat of a favorite of the coach who played a lot at his time in Anderlecht, Watanabe who had a great season in Kortrijk and was the player with most minutes played also came as an enforcement in the defense. Keegan Jelacic is a midfielder that also was attracted from Perth. Last season in 33 matches he scored 11 goals and gave 8 assists

Cercle Brugge

So far, there was mostly action form players on loan. Didilion comes back from Monaco where he never played and he still has a 1-year contract. At this point, it's still unclear who will be 1st goalkeeper. Siquet who is on loan saw it extended while Hotic is at the end of his contract and will leave for a Turkish Team. Marcelin & Majecki will go back to Monaco.

Westerlo

De Cuyper goes back to Club Brugge, Dierckx his contract did not get extended. Many players on loan also likely will go back to the team that owns them. Jordan Bos (Melbourne City, AUS), Arthur Piedfort (PSV, BEL) so far have been the incoming transfers.

Standard

Many players will be leaving Standard after their coach already went to Club Brugge. They yet have to find a new coach. Alzate will go back to Brighton as he's at the end of a loan. Same with Zinckernagel & Melegoni. Goalkeeper Bordart also likely will leave but nothing is official yet.

I will do the other 8 teams later this week...
