Nigeria youths and their desperation to make money

It has not only been the nation's consign about how young people do illegal and fetish things to get money, but also a consign to the world as a whole. As time passes, young Nigerians seem to have increased the level of desperation to get money.

How it all started
Although fraud, scam and rituals has their history as far as the Nigeria democracy dating back to the 1960s, we can say that these illegal act came to popularity among the youth at the 1990s. Back then, only few are exposed to fraud. What most people do is to meet foreign friends online and keep communicating weekly through the mail. Due to the fact that internet fraud is not popular back then, people get trusted by their foreign friends and some times they get gifts too. As time passes, more of greedy people came to know about it and started telling lies to get more money and items. They told lies like, their grandmother being admitted to the hospital and a lot more.

During the 2000s, their scams and scopes has been known by most foreigners, these made them reduce the level of trust they have in Nigerians, most of them never wanted to have anything to do with Nigeria. So they stopped sending things, they basically stopped interacting.

During the late 2000s, some young people learnt how to register foreign accounts and impersonate by using a fake identity to make friends and to continue their scam. As time goes on these plans starts to get popularity, more young Nigerians ventured into it, and more foreigners got cat fished.

Foreigners got to know about it and reduced their level of generosity. That made some young Nigerians to add fetish things to what they call their hustle. Then ritual came to play.

What is the cause of desperation
° Nigeria economy: Nigeria economy along side the value of the currency has been sinking each day that passes, has a result of bad governance. Nigeria is one of the nations that is blessed with natural resources, namely Crude oil, Good land for plantation, Timber, Metallic and non metallic minerals and a lot more. The leaders has been successful in pursuing their personal goals, making it difficult for the masses to benefit from that which the Lord has blessed us. Most people earn less than a dollar in a day, working from 8am till 7pm.
° Unemployment leading to depression:

Nigeria produces hundreds of thousands of graduates each passing year with not up to one third of then getting employed. After going through educational training since childhood till the point where they can call their self a graduate, they go back to learning hand works which does not get successful most times due to lack of proper founds to establish their business. This same graduates sees other young people that did not even go to school but are spending money gotten from illegal means lavishly and living fancy lifestyle.

Young people who are being mislead
Most of the young people who are into internet fraud and rituals do not even have a reason for it, most of these people belongs to the age group of 16-25 years. They really do not have a specific thing to use the money for, they only see their peer group spending money and they get enticed, they go into illegal means of getting money just to impress and oppress others.

Extent at which young people go to make money

It saddens the heart to know how young people who haven't experienced the hardship of life, go desperate to get money in all sort of fetish ways. We have seen and heard from the news and across Nigeria, the various things they do. Some are so desperate to the extent of using their friends, girlfriend, children, pregnant women, even their own biological parents for rituals, some even cut the number of years they would live on earth in exchange for money.

Do they invest after getting the money

No, they don't invest, these set of people do not believe in the future, they live in the moment, they live with the mindset that, the same way the money came without them working for it is the same way it will keep coming. Some of them even know that their life is at risk and that may die at any moment, so they prefer spending and enjoying as long as they can.

Repercussion
Most of the young Nigerians who goes into rituals do not get informed about the downside to it, how ever, some knows fully well but still ventures into it anyways. Here are some of the repercussions to rituals and blood money making. Here are some of the repercussions:
° Lack of peace of mind. Once a person have money dealings with spiritual realms, they lose their peace of mind knowing that their life's has been exchanged with wealth and they start seeing spiritual things.
° Mental disorder. Some of these people get tampered with mentally as a result of having encounter with fetish spirits.
° Premature death. What ever the devil gives, he collects it back in hundred fold. Most of these ritualist do not last for long after they get involved, in fact some of them dies in the process of getting initiated.

The effect on Nigeria as a whole
These illegal act of making money and desperation has brought a lot of effect on the country. Starting from the fact that most countries has banned flights from Nigeria into their country. It is difficult for Nigerians to make legal business deals with foreigners due to the level of trust. For instance, as an artist who makes artworks, some times foreigners sees my artworks and get interested in getting one for them self, they contact me and while we talk about the artwork and the payment. Once they find out that I am a Nigerian, that is all, the deal is closed. The internet fraud has brought to us more of negative impact than the benefit they get.

NOTE
If you are a Nigerian, reading this blog and you haven't considered internet fraud and ritual, I strongly appreciate your strength of resistance, and I pray that God bless the works of your hands. Please have it in mind that there is more to ritual money than the fancy life they display on social media. Most of these people have regrets deep downs in their minds that they got involved but they have no choice than to continue in other not to loss their life's, they have sleepless night in struggles. There is no other way to enjoy life than to have peace of mind. May God continue to guide us

While it may be true that due to desperation, some youth's may engage in this behavior, we also have people right here in America doing the same to other citizens.

I do recall warning my sister about the still ongoing "Nigerian Prince" scam. Years ago, she got one of those emails and was about to wire thousands of dollars, before she decided to contact me first.

Luckily, I was able to view the email and point her to news stories where elderly people had lost their life savings because of scammers like this.

This is why I try to give a more realistic picture of the US to anyone thinking of coming here. We have a lot of poverty in America and my city has many people from West Africa, due to having a refugee detention center nearby.

There are many french speaking Africans here and I will never forget the disillusioned young guy I spoke to sitting against an abandoned building.

I think he was from Ghana, and had come here for a better life. He wasn't aware of the pervasive racism in America and the fact that he would have to compete with many other immigrants for jobs and housing, mostly from Latin American countries.

We talked for quite awhile and I ended up helping him get to Philadelphia to make a fresh start. It's very important to research what area you're moving to in order to find the best opportunities. Best wishes to all.

Thanks for your contribution, that God your sister wasn't cat fished too. The reason why Africans prefer traveling out for greener pasture is that, here in Africa Especially in Nigeria, the average person can hardly afford 3 square meal, we have a lot of people whose monthly salaries can not buy a bag of rice for their family. We believe that if we travel overseas, even if we are asked to do dirty jobs, the payout will worth the effort. And to be real, an average person over there will come back here as a king.

It just comes back to choosing the right area in the US. Once I told the guy from Ghana that my city's proximity to the refugee center, meant he would have a hard time finding work in a town with a Latino majority, he might have better luck in an African American majority city like Philadelphia. He did end up finding work there and was able to send money back home to help his family.

I'm thinking, if I were Nigerian, what part of the country would I settle in? Maybe Atlanta, Georgia, due to it's black majority and mild climate, is one idea. But I'd do a lot of research first in order to find the right area.

Just remember, my State, Pennsylvania, is very cold in the winter! :)

I'm thankful that some Nigerians have found Leofinance and Hive in order to supplement their income.

Thank you for your comment, this might be useful to me some day. As I would not like my future children to experience what I did in Nigeria. Thanks for hive and all other crypto, we seriously need it here in Nigeria but our government is standing as an antagonist
