Living With A Pig

I was trained by my parents to always live in a clean environment. They taught me so well that I was able to carry that teaching to the university.

I had a friend who was just too dirty for my liking. He was so clean and neat when we got to know each other. We got to know each other when I was registering as a student. Back then, they called us JJC, which means Johnny Just Come. I just hate that name, but who am I to fight with people, and how many of them am I going to fight with?

One day, I was on my way to school when I met this friend who the oldies surrounded, pouring out that same name that I dislike so much about him. From different angles, I was hearing JJC, which got me mad at them. I thought I was the only one who did not like being called JJC, not knowing that someone else also hated this name. After observing them, my teeth were set on the edge without knowing what to do.

I stylishly called out my friend and took him somehow out of their midst. He was so happy to take him away from them. We introduced ourselves, and it came back to the fact that we are in the same department. I was happy to see someone in the same department as me. We embraced each other and started deep conversations. This was where I got to know that he hadn't got an flat yet. Moreover, I was able to find out that he was a brilliant student. I can't let him vanish into thin air without finding ways to click with him.

I later asked him to squat with me after observing him critically. Although I was unable to observe his character to the fullest after meeting him for just a short while.

He was so happy, and indeed, we began to live together. He has few clothes, but after some time, he began to buy new clothes. For me, I only have fewer clothes, as I was not ready to buy clothes instead just to face my studies.

He was behaving so well after four weeks, but beyond that, I started noticing some unwanted character in him. All this time, I have been the one cleaning and sweeping the house. One fateful day, I rushed out to get something so that we would not be late for school. As I came back, the house was still not swept. I was a little angry, but then I could not say a word. I felt like maybe he was busy reading because he was unable to sweep the house. Likewise, I picked up the broom and made the house look presentable.

I cooked, and we ate before leaving for lectures. Although I made sure to keep the house tidy before leaving, After lectures, I told him that I had to get my handbook from our mathematics lecturer. He went home alone, without me. After two hours, I was done collecting my handbook and leaving for my abode. As I got home, I saw the unexpected, which I was expecting. He ate, leaving the floor dirty without attempting to sweep it. His clothes were rolling on the floor, while the toilet was a mess. I was mad and could not hold my words; instead, I started shouting at him. I talked to him just like a baby. All he was able to say was, “I'm sorry, bro.”.

Still, I picked up the broom, swept the room, and also went straight to the toilet to make it neat. His clothes were still looking at him, but out of human feelings, I decided to arrange those clothes for him.

The next day, I asked him to prepare some rice as I needed to go to the park to collect what my mom had sent to me. I spent about two and a half hours out there. Getting home, I saw the floor littered, and the house smelled serious. He prepared the rice, but after eating, he refused to sweep the room. The kitchen was a mess. I could not wait to ask him to leave my house, as I was not ready to take nonsense.

He started apologizing, saying that he was going to change.

“You know you have done this before and promised not to try it again, right?” I asked.

“I know, but trust me, I will behave nicely this time, I promise," he replied while sobering. I looked at his face, and out of passion, I accepted him back. After that day, he truly changed for the better.

Nothing gets me so pissed as much as as a dirty person or environment. I cannot stand it. I know that some persons get to tiptoe around me because of that but I don't care. Just don't mess stuff up.

His was a good kind. At least, he changed. Keeping stuff tidy is a lot easier than messing it up.

I don't like unclean places either and it's nice that your roommate changed after a few arguments over his uncleanliness. Did you guys stay together till you completed your program?
