Bicycles are a source of income.

So many people have ignored the fact that bicycles can bring them something tangible and can even put food on their tables. To make it possible, so many people in my country have been making a living from it and even using this medium to send their children to school.

Renting

A man who lived some distance away from my abode owns a bicycle shop. He does not know how to repair them, but can only rent them out to people who want to go cycling. He made his living from this means and even used some of his savings to buy more bicycles. Likewise, he has been known as a dealer of bicycles, although he only used them for rent.

Farming

In my village, what every farmer uses mostly is bicycles. They use it to carry loads of cassava from the farm or loads of firewood from the farm to their respective houses. This is what my parents used to train me for school. They look so strong and agile. They also used this means of using bicycles for farming to build their houses. After carrying the firewood, they would sell them and, boom, have more gain.

Instead of renting a cab or a truck to help move those items from the farm, they make use of their bicycles.

Means of Transportation

Fuel has been on the high side in Nigeria, and this has caused many people to drift from paying transport fees to buying bicycles. They now drift back to the old days of transportation. Our forefathers used bicycles to travel long distances and could go for longer miles with bicycles. Civilization and modernization have taken over those aspects of life.

People are now starting to remember those days and have started using bicycles as a means of transportation. They now choose to cycle rather than go on a motorcycle or cab, which would cost them extra money. This is just a result of the removal of fuel subsidies.

So many people select to cycle just because of the joy it derives. There is joy in riding a bicycle, and it is also fun to move, except for the manpower.

Repairing

This is what people are running from most, especially myself. I have run away from this expectation of life as this was not my call, but so many people who are professionals have made it big through bicycle repair. My friend who trained me is now a big boy and swimming in money. Those repairing bicycles are not much here in my country, but those riding them are just too much.

For me bicycles are more a for expenditures 😃
Regular maintenance and clothing need to be paid.
Although cycling to work also saves me some money since I'm saving on train tickets and I don't have to go to the gym.
