Reddit Selling Its Data to Google AI

I was going through some of the finance news over the Google and a news that has caught my attention. The news is that the Reddit has stuck a deal with Google which allows the search giant to use the Reddit posts and its answers for training its artificial intelligence models which will improve the Google search results.

Along with that Reddit will use the Google AI to improve its internal site search as well as its other features. It is said that this arrangement is roughly per 50$ million which is a huge money. This is somewhat good because we all know that Reddit is a knowledge base on its own. We have seen that there are a lot of people are active on Reddit who answers questions posted. And the questions are in great quality too. So we can rely on it.

The only problem is when the artificial model is been trained on something which is not fact check than it might not be fully correct. We have seen so many instances where Google search has given us wrong results because someone who has written something wrong but had a great SEO and Google just put that content on top.

The problem is when the AI model is been trained on, there is no way to find its authenticity. But again I don't think so Google AI will only use the training data from Reddit alone, it might take data from other places too make it quite diversified. And then when it merges the result it can take the best result out of it based on the training score, whose technicalities might not be known other than the developers itself.

Along with that Reddit has also filled for the IPO this week and thus it might hit the Nasdaq in coming days. The Google merging is a great news for its IPO too because people will feel that Reddit might have a good future because of this deal and thus the IPO will be a grand success. I might not know about the future but this deal is surely will help Reddit for the upcoming IPO.

One thing I am keen on seeing is that Reddit allows users to delete its content and the content will be deleted from all the places. Now how the Google will change its training model according to it, does Google retrain everything or it will keep the data which is still not known.

I don't understand all this hype that is pumping into Reddit and its IPO. I think that who will jump on it will take a hit in terms of investment...
