How India can be benefitted using Blockchain Technology

Blockchain technology in simple terms is an advanced database which is transparent to the people. It is a data store where the data is stored in blocks which are linked together in a chain and that's why it is called blockchain. It is an immutable and irreversible chain of blocks and great to record events and transactions.

There are number of usecases for blockchain. But let's see how India can be benefitted using Blockchain Technology. Be it for the government or for the industries in India, blockchain can be great benefit as it has various features. For example, if I take land registration or voting, it can be great idea to use blockchain technology we will see how.

The good thing about India is that we have a high Internet penetration and thus easy access to digital platforms which can help them to make blockchain technology to be easily implemented.

Blockchain Usage in Voting

India uses EVM for its voting. It is one of the largest democracy in the world. But often opposition in India is not satisfied with EVM - Electronic Viting Machine and they want the voting to be done using ballot paper too. Ballot paper is one of the worst way to do voting because voting can easily be rigged which we have seen in Pakistan voting too. So best way to do is to use Blockchain technology along with the EVM.

EVM for counting faster and blockchain for easily traceable and verifiable by all the stakeholders. It will help to satisfy all the stakeholders so that they will not feel cheated or doesn't feel that it is rigged.

Blockchain Usage in Land Registration

Blockchain technology is great for improving public governance too, like land registration. The problem in India is that you never know if the land has valid owner or is there any legal cases going on. With Blockchain technology, it will be an easier process and verifiable to get clear land accusations. Blockchain can bring all of the stakeholders together, and give them the power to verify each land registration at the click of a button.

Its just like my country Nigeria. Election is always marred by many irregularities. The blockchain will enhance a credible, free and fare election. Because data written to the blockchain is transparent and cannot be changed, it is difficult to manipulate it.

I wish your government will one day adopt blockchain-based elections. But they probably wont like to try it.

Land ownership and registration integrated onto a blockchain is more appealing to me. This could afford greater flexible to the citizens with the ownership, sale and transfer of "their" property.
If we also consider minting the land and the land title as NFT's this would further enhance ownership rights and security of the citizen and even protect them from bad actors (even in the government).
