Hive is not only for Blogging
When a newbie joined Hive, the first thing he/she sees is that you can earn cryptos by writing or by blogging but to be honest blogging is not the only way to earn out here on Hive. First of all yes, we all can earn crypto by blogging on Hive but one more thing is that blogging is just one of the many possibilities to earn from Hive. Yes there are a lot of people who writes regularly but again there are people who are just here for the community, or for games or for investment and what not.

Most of the people are on Hive just for playing games and the biggest one is Splinterlands. Though not only that we have several games out here like Solinterlands, RisingStar, DCity, etc and a lot of people on Hive are here just for the games. All the games are the play2earn games where, people earn by playing games. And not only that, there are new games which are coming now and them, we just have to wait to see some of them becoming a world class.
Investment
There are numerous ways people warn money through investment out here. Like by buying Hive low and selling it on top. A lot of people do earn just by curation, they keep their Hive as Hive Power and use it for voting that gives them easily 10% APR, along with the Hive price increase. The next is HBD where people get 20% APR when saved on savings.
Job
A lot of people are there who are working for many dApps here on Hive who are not active on Hive. They work on a project and we don't really know them because they don't do blogging, but they exists. So year Hive provides Job opportunities too.
Witness
Do you know we have so many Hive Witness who makes sure that Hive works smoothly for us. These Hive Witnesses are in a great numbers like we have 100 of witnesses and they run Hive Blockchain so that we have smooth blogging experience. They work in the background and most of them do not do blogging and some of them earn good too if they are in Top 30.

You are very right. Hive provides numerous opportunities other than blogging to earn. One can simply be a gamer, witness, save HBD to earn the 20% APR and also buy Hive to power up, then use it to curate for rewards.
