No tripod? Toilet paper! // Kein Stativ? Toilettenpapier!

Sometimes a toilet roll has to do. I wanted to take some stock photos for the Stock Images Community. (https://peakd.com/c/hive-118554/created) I couldn't find my tripod in a hurry, so I improvised a bit. The camera you see here is my A7 with a Sigma 1.4 35mm lens. Because of the toilet paper roll the camera is a bit too high, so I had to build the whole thing underneath, for this I just used household sponges. On the right there is a small LED light that is meant for smartphones, but it often helps me to illuminate certain points even better, especially if you don't want shadows. For the exposure of the pictures I mainly used a Key light from Neewer. I bought this back then when I was getting into videography a bit. For different uses of the stock photos, I used different coins and banknotes.

You can see on my camera screen that I stayed in the range of over f/3 with my aperture. In retrospect, perhaps even a little too low.

In photography, the F-stop behaves like this: The smaller the F-stop, the smaller the sharp area.

If you want a particularly blurred background and only parts of an object to be sharp, a smaller F-stop is recommended. If you want to have more of the picture in focus, you should use a higher one.

Now I wanted to have the hand and the coins particularly sharp in the picture, while the background, a black wallpaper, should be nicely blurred. The money box was slightly out of focus - which I liked very much at first, because the focus was so strongly on the coin. Now, a day later, it bothers me a little. I'll probably repeat this with a higher F-stop on occasion and then add it to the post.

By the way, I like the shot with the wallet best.

If you haven't heard of the Hive Stock Images Community, this is where Hive users share their photos with other Hive users who can then use them in their articles/projects. I think it's a good idea, there are already quite a few sites with "free" images. But the demand has also increased extremely due to the Shortcontent format. Maybe with the help of this community we will succeed in getting some traffic onto Hive.

Manchmal muss eine Klopapierrolle reichen. Ich wollte einige Stockphotos für die Stock Images Community machen. (https://peakd.com/c/hive-118554/created) Mein Stativ habe ich auf die schnelle nicht gefunden, also habe ich etwas improvisiert. Die Kamera die man hier sieht ist meine A7 mit einem Sigma 1.4 35mm Objektiv. Durch die Klopapierrolle ist die Kamera etwas zu hoch, daher musste ich das ganze unterbauen, dazu habe ich einfach Haushaltschwämme genutzt. Rechts ist noch eine kleine LED-Leuchte die für Smartphones gedacht ist, hilft mir aber häufig bestimmte Punkte noch besser auszuleuchten, gerade wenn man keine Schatten haben möchte. Zur Belichtung der Bilder benutzte ich hauptsächlich ein Key light von Neewer. Dies habe ich mir damals angeschaffen, als ich mich etwas mit Videographie auseinander gesetzt habe. Für verschiedene Einsatzmöglichkeiten der Stockphotos habe ich unterschiedliche Coins und Geldscheine genutzt.

Man kann auf meinem Kamerabildschirm erkennen, dass ich mit meiner Blende im Bereich von über f/3 geblieben bin. Rückwirkend vielleicht sogar noch etwas zu niedrig.

Beim Fotografieren verhält sich der F-Stop so: Umso kleiner der F-Stop, desto kleiner ist der scharfe Bereich.

Möchte man einen besonders stark verschwommenen Hintergrund und nur Teile eines Objektes scharf haben, empfiehlt sich einer kleiner F-Stop. Möchte man mehr im Bild scharf abgelichtet haben, sollte man einen höheren nehmen.

Jetzt wollte ich auf dem Bild die Hand und die Coins besonders scharf haben, während der Hintergrund, eine schwarze Tapete, schön unscharf sein sollte. Die Spardose ist dabei minimal aus dem Fokus geraten - was mir zu erst sehr gefallen hat, weil der Fokus so besonders stark auf der Münze lag. Jetzt einen Tag später, stört es mich ein wenig. Werde diese wohl bei Gelegenheit mit einem höheren F-Stop wiederholen und dann im Beitrag noch zusätzlich hinzufügen.

Die Aufnahme mit dem Portemonnaie gefällt mir übrigens am Besten.

Ich finde die Idee gut, es gibt zwar schon einiges an Seiten mit "kostenlosen" Bildern. Durch das Shortcontent-Format ist aber auch die Nachfrage extrem gestiegen. Vielleicht gelingt uns ja mit Hilfe dieser Community den ein oder anderen Traffic auf Hive zu bekommen.

I recently shoot a lot of pics capturing film, music film, and dollars inside a piano (i.e. illustrating the Money / Music field). When make some edits, plan to post it exactly there..
