Freestyles

Somany times while I was still learning allot about being a vocalist, though I'm still learning up on till now but as at when I started learning, whenever I heard people talked about doing a freestyle, I always do wander what a freestyle looks like, at a point when I learnt somethings I thought it was only about the riffs and runs but I guess I was wrong.

Freestyles in terms of vocals is the act of utilizing different vocal dynamic to add melody to the song, I could come in as an interlude or maybe at any given space in the songs timeline, a freestyle could be added to a song in any given space, maybe before the next verse of the song, a freestyle could also be done on separate track, it could be in regards to a song and of course using the song's rythm.

Knowing this led me to practicing the vocal dynamic, I had to make sure I rehearsed frequently so that I'd be acquainted with it, though I stopped rehearsing for some times but it's my priority presently.

These are the vocal dynamics and vocal skills I know of

• Vocal sighs
• Crescendo and decrescendo
• Riffs and runs
• Switching between of head voice and chest voice.

There are lots more on this vocal skills and dynamic but these are the little I can remember, it's been a while anyways, it's almost two years back since I did this, I'm just trying to recall what I learnt before but this time around I decided to use the knowledge I have and also some YouTube videos to understand better.

While doing a freestyle, one vocal skills that is also important is that vibrato, it's very important to learn it anyways there are some people that naturally have vibrato but for people like me I just have to learn it with even much pressure.
