Keeping pushing!

This first paragraph is for the new people on Hive and INLEO that might be reading this. Just to let you know, even us people that have been here for years, I have been here for 1535 days and this post is my 1535 strait day posting, can still have problems putting out a long form post.

Believe it or not, I been having issues coming up with topics to write about. This morning being no different. But I stare at my screen, I put my fingers to the keyboard and I tell myself, I have to get a post done. I cannot miss a day after all this time.

Thus today is going to be story time.

KEEP PUSHING

No matter what happens in life, online or offline you have to find a way to keep pushing. I am going to tell a story of how I pushed something, pushed it hard to make some head way.

GETTING OFF OIL

Here is Canada, especially in Newfoundland, we have winter. We are moving into winter now, well into fall. It was 1.8 degree C out side when I got up this morning. And I heat my house by burning oil that is pumped through a system of ducts coming from an oil burning furnance.

Dut to climate change, the government of country and the province are offering grants to get us off oil and to some form of electricity.

The big push now is for Heat Pumps.

The province of Newfoundland with Canada came out with a rebate for people in my situation of upto $17,000 to replace my oil burning furance with a central heatpump system.

There are two reasons to get off oil, the first being for the climate change aspect. The second one is the cost. It is a lot cheaper to heat a home with a heat pump that it is with oil. If oil prices go where they are expected to go, predicted to go, I was looking at a double to tripple cost to heat my home this winter.

So the push to apply and get approved and get installed the new heating system was on.

RED TAPE

I have come up with a new word for government red tape. Lazy. But that could be a whole other story.

When the application process opened it was stated it would take 6 to 8 weeks to get approved. The grant from the government had to be approved before I moved ahead or the company installing my system would want to charge me the 17K upfront.

After the 6 to 8 weeks was up I got a email letter that told me they needed more information. Apparently it came down to one simple word. Finial invoice, verse Quote.

Through a lot of back and forth, I was not getting anywhere with gettng finial approval and the days and nights are getting colder. My oil tank is almost empty and I litterly cringe every time my furance cuts in.

I did not know what to do. Then it came to me. I had to push this hard.

I got a hold of my government represenitive and laid out the whole situation. After a few weeks of back and forth, they went to bat for me and started contacting the government department looking after my application.

Within a half hour after my member of government wrote a letter/email to the correct people I had my final approval.

NOTHING IS EASY

Now I still have to wait. The company doing the install has to gear up installers, electrians, get permits, get the power company to temp discount power to house. All kinds of stuff. More delays.

Yesterday I felt again like everything was stalled. Back to my government rep I went. And within minutes aftewards I got phone calls to see if we could get things sped up.

I did get a full explantion from my install company of how things are proceding and the process.

I am not happy with all the delays. With what I had to do.

But one thing I am happy about is the fact that I took it upon myself to push. Push so hard that I got success.

FINAL THOUGHTS

This story I hope motivates new people here on Hive and on INLEO. You may read about pushing verse pulling with things you are doing online. But let me tell you. In life, online or offline, if you want something, if you want to get ahead, if you want to better yourself and your life. There are times you just have to PUSH. And push hard.

Sitting back and doing nothing is going to get you nowhere.
