In the Embrace of Memories: A Tale of Special Moments and Lasting Joy

There are many moments in our lives that we consider as memorable moments and we want to keep them like this throughout our life and thinking about them again and again gives us a lot of pleasure. Many of us spend time with people but not every moment seems special to us, there are some people with whom that moment seems special to us. It is possible that the people with whom you feel good may not feel good with you or it may not be so. Everyone has their own choice. You cannot force anyone to love you or spend time with you. It is everyone's choice, it is not necessary that if someone is spending time with you then he/she should be enjoying it.

There are many such occasions in the lives of all of us today that we consider very special and I have some memories which are from my childhood when I used to be very young but still I have such memories in my mind. I used to live far away from my brother, sisters and mother. My elder brother and my father were far away in the state and we used to come to our home only once a year and that was a very happy time. My father used to leave us and go back. But admit it, I felt so much pleasure going home, what can I say?

This happened around 2002, when I and my elder brother used to live with my father in Mizoram. That is also a very hilly area, as per what I remember from my childhood and everywhere there were bamboo houses built on the roadside, there was a different atmosphere and colour, for example, and when our school holidays were for about 2 months, we used to go to our village. When we came back to Uttarakhand, we enjoyed the journey a lot because we used to travel for some days by train and some days by bus. I don't know whether flights were running at that time or not, but we travelled by train and bus only. Used to do it because it might have been cheaper. I used to enjoy a lot while coming on the train and to tell you the truth, my father has been very strict since childhood, so whenever we had free time, he used to make us do homework on the train, believe me, it seemed very strange but we got used to it.

I used to enjoy travelling by train. I don't know how many years have passed. Now I have not even traveled by train. Yes, the last time I went to Delhi, I was successful in the metro, but the train is fun and If your friends are your family members then the fun becomes even more double. When we used to reach back from there to our village in Uttarakhand, from here too we had to go to our village in a small car and believe me, we felt so much joy that it is difficult to explain in words because 2 months holiday is a long time. If we left him and went away, we would become like a free bird for about 2 months. Since childhood, I have been a little worried about work and try to finish it on time and this fast of mine remains with me even today. Maybe it is or it was a habit formed in me since childhood that I used to finish all the school work, unlike me, my elder brother did not care about it and when we reached back, he used to get his work done by me.

When we used to meet our brothers and sisters after reaching home, it was a lot of fun and also a lot of happiness because it is a long time to meet our family members after almost a year and we used to sit together and eat food, we did not even have mobile phones at that time (it was the time of letters). There used to be no light facility in our village at that time, so everyone there used to go to bed around 7:00 pm but everyone used to get up early in the morning. There used to be a lot of children in the entire village. We used to play games together in the evening and do many other things. It's a pleasure remembering that day. Did something similar happen to you too? Please share.

No mobile phones, no electricity? It's amazing how different life was just a few years ago. Your description reminds me of the joys of simple living and connecting with loved ones through conversation and shared activities. I just wonder what those past lives would have been like.

What to say? Spending time with family is always the best time because it allows us to enjoy the each moment. I can feel what you said here but it seems I can't share everything through words.

@bhattg,Yes, you are right. We definitely have some people like this in our life. Being with them gives a different kind of pleasure. And we remember the days spent with them. We have a group of six friends. One of them is a friend from Almora, Uttarakhand. Now he has retired, but we definitely go there to meet him every year or two. We like to stay and travel with him. And when six of us are together, we feel very happy. It is a different feeling. And for that we go so far almost every year. However, the people of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand are humble and loving. This is our experience over the years.
