Gratitude for the Little Things: Reflections on Travel and Memories

Since childhood, I have been closely associated with government vehicles because being born in a middle-class family, most of the time while traveling here and there, my family used and still use public transport. One advantage is that its tickets are very cheap and you do not need to worry about things like car parking and toll tickets etc. Yes, having your private vehicle also has its benefits because you can take it anywhere as per your wish. There are many other benefits of having your vehicle.

Since childhood, I used to travel here and there on public transport. I spent a few years in the Northeast Side of India. This may have been around 2002 or 2003. Then I remembered that we used to go to school on the public buses there. Yes, there were buses for school but their monthly ticket was very expensive, so instead, we used to go by public transport, the ticket was very cheap there. I still remember my father used to give us two rupees for commuting, ₹1 for going, and ₹1 for coming. What a day those were.

Now nothing happens for ₹ 1, perhaps you cannot even board a bus for ₹ 1. Now the minimum fare is ₹ 10. Since then, a lot of changes have taken place and inflation has also increased a lot. It is also natural that it is about 20 years old. I have a deep attachment to public transport and to tell you the truth, I prefer to travel in big buses rather than small cars. I don't know why I feel a little uncomfortable in them. It is a different pleasure in big vehicles. It is fun to open the window and look out and Then taking your head out and enjoying the air is a different pleasure.

I remember when we used to go to school in my childhood, the number of one bus which I remember was 555. Both I and my brother used to study in the same school but in different classes, but we used to come on the same bus while going in the morning and coming in the evening. The reason for this was that the conductor of the bus recognized us. Everyone loves small kids and that is the reason why he did not even take money from us, that is why we used to just wait for his bus to save ₹2. At that time even though ₹ 2 was a treasure at that time. But now we do not get anything for ₹ 2, some things are still available but now it is way much less than in the past.

I remember those childhood days a lot, today I feel very good remembering those old days. Yes, I don't remember everything clearly, but I remember it vaguely. I don't know how but that bus number is still in my mind, I have almost forgotten the name of the place because after that I never got the opportunity to go there but I will go there once in the future and will refresh the old memories of childhood. About 3 years ago, our staff was taken on a trip by bus and we had a bus booked with us as a traveler and the entire trip was sponsored by the office itself, so we did not have to worry about the expenses, nor food nor accommodation. No commuting here and there.

Believe me, although we cannot even think of going to such big hotels nor of traveling for so many days, it is very difficult for a middle-class person to even think about it, but because of our boss, it became possible to do all this and it is very good. It was also felt because, after a long time, I got a chance to travel, we had a lot of fun and the happy thing is that we did not have to spend even a single penny because even though our boss was not so good at the time of work, but he has a good heart. He is very good if you ever need any kind of help, he comes forward to help you in every possible way and this is what I like very much about him and perhaps because of this I also respect him.

We had a lot of fun doing the trick, we had a lot of fun and we also visited many places. Yes, if we had had a few more days of holidays, we would have had more fun, but still, it was a good experience to go and roam in an unknown city for three days. And we did all this by using public transport. It was a lucky thing to travel as a stranger or a tourist in someone else's city. Have you ever done this?

Some country public transport are so bad, and while yours is a good experience, I can't say same for most people, public transport are worst and frustrating sometimes but we have no choice but to use it

Bhai, school bus mein jaate thy rich kids. BMW, Audi sab to abhi aayi hain. 😆
Aur Middle class ke liye the public transport. Usme bhi conductor school uniform dekh kar paise nahi leta kyun kabhi kabhi dus ka note dikha kar darra dete the..

Aur yaar time kitna hota tha humare pass. Hum bore hote the itna time hota tha abhi to yaar, Bore bhi nahi ho sakte itna busy rahte hain.

Koi nahi aage chal kar isse bhi aachi yaadon mein gin lenge

Coming from a country with bad public transport, were everyone drives cars to live their life efficiently, I am just now enjoying the joys public transport in a country with much better solutions.
Not having to worry about traffic or thinking about actions on the road is a very relaxed feeling. Plus, no headaches that come with owning a car.

Nice of the office to pay for everything. Be sure to take advantage of all those corporate opportunities.

I am not much of a traveler and adventurer, I do enjoy reading and seeing travel publications made by other people.
But I know that getting to know different places and people greatly expands your conception of the world.
