Falling for Deceit: My Personal Encounter with an Office Scam

Nowadays everything is available online and it has become straightforward to find and do anything believe me, it has as many disadvantages as it has advantages. Nowadays, as things are becoming easier for us, things are also becoming easier for those who fool people by using these online things. It would not be wrong to say that online scammers are very smart because they have caught some points of any website or online tools or apps that they can take advantage of and fool people.

Nowadays, online scamming is increasing very fast around us and we keep hearing about such cases every day we don't know how people still get trapped in all these things whereas nowadays, through many mediums, the government, and many people Even among people whose awareness, people still get trapped. And the surprising thing is that those who are fast in these tasks are not illiterate but highly educated people and it is even more surprising to see this. Whenever you visit any online sites, if you do not trust them then do not do it, and whenever there is any internet banking website or any other website that you use, then log in from its official website only. That is from a given link because nowadays scammers have become so clever that they are scamming people even by creating duplicate websites. If you do not check their link, you will not be able to find out whether it is an original website or a fake website.

So in the end it comes down to this you are responsible if any online fraud happens to you and in most cases, it happens that due to your fault, you fall prey to scammers. And many people even lose lakhs of rupees here and some even lose their lives. I consider myself lucky that to date I have not gotten trapped in any such online scams, I cannot say anything about the future. But yes, a lot of bad games have happened with me offline and this is because I trust people easily, not mostly but sometimes and when we trust people, most of the time they betray us. We give those whom we trust more or about whom we do not know much.

What happened a few months ago, now about 40 people work in my office and it feels good to see that our office is growing very fast but it is also sad to see that the way we work is not being implemented. Unfortunately, we do not get a salary as specified in the requirement. I mostly interact with all the staff members and maintain a friendly demeanor with everyone so that no one feels awkward. Yes, I am not that extrovert but now I have gotten used to the environment of my office, so I talk to whoever is there, from good morning in the morning to brother in the evening, and have light conversations with everyone. But there are only a few people whom I know a little well and who are very close to me in the office. Believe me, until you know someone well, you don't know anything about him. I have experienced here in the last few months.

There is a boy from our office who messages me a few months ago on Saturdays and first of all he asks about my well-being. I felt a bit strange that the boy who doesn't even talk to me in the office had suddenly started messaging me. I had some doubts and at the same time, I didn't pay much attention to him and I also used to talk to him for some time. Then he suddenly said, I need some money, can you help me? I thought for a bit and then I said yes but he was asking for too much money, I had that much, but I did not want to give him all the money he was asking for, so I promised to give him some money. And nowadays, due to technology, transferring money has become so easy that I transferred the money to him in just a few seconds.

And he had promised that I would return the money to you as soon as the salary came, but when the salary came, he was on leave during the day because I had gone somewhere, hence due to this he and I could not meet when I asked him for the money. When asked about it, he said that I have withdrawn all the salary and when you come, I will give you the money. I also thought that when I went to the office, I would take money from him. When I reached the office, he was very busy during the day, so when I went home and messaged him, he did not reply, I felt a bit strange but I thought that maybe he was busy so maybe he would message me after some time. But his reply did not come even the next day and he was on leave for a few days, so a week passed like this, then during the weekend I got a message from him saying that there was some money problem, so I will return the money to you in a day or two.

This time I did not find anything strange, I thought that everyone faces problems, perhaps he too must have faced some problems, so I did not force myself so much and continued like this for a week. After a few days, when I shared this with some of my office friends, I came to know a strange thing the boy to whom I had given the loan had borrowed money from almost all the people in the office and returned some of them. But some have not returned for months. Then I came to know that he has been lying to me till now, I don't know what he was doing with that money, but some people were also saying that he has a debt of lakhs and he drinks alcohol on weekends, that is why he told people. Asks to borrow money. I thought that now my money was gone but after a few days his message came and said that sir, I will not be able to get the money this month, I will give it to you next month. Now I knew more about him than before, so I also did not reply to his message and replied after a few hours. And guess what happened today, it's been 3 months since I talked to him and he still hasn't returned my money.

Come on, from me he has still taken a small amount, from many people he has taken a huge amount and till now he has not returned even a single penny from them. Online scam is not with me but I too got scammed offline. Have you also had such a scan? Believe me, now I have no hope of getting money, but still I had to try from my side. This is also a very strange thing, one has to ask for one's own money after giving it and it also feels very strange to ask for one's own money back.
