Making Snowmen
It always amazes me how well kids adapt to a situation that adults find to be unfavorable.
Two weeks ago, we had an atypical winter storm that brought quite a bit of snow and bitterly cold temperatures. The overnight temps were below zero F., and daytime highs were in the teens F.
If we do get this kind of weather, it generally lasts less than a week, but it is devastating enough to pretty much shut everything down.
My grandkids, of course, loved it because schools were closed and they got to play in the snow.
My youngest grandson had just received a Carhartt coat and overalls for Christmas.
He wanted to look like his dad when working outside.
So he spent many hours outside with multiple layers on and not wanting to come in to warm up.
He and his dad did make a classic snowman.
In just about a week, the snow was gone, and the temperatures were in the 60s F.
We had a 7-day differential of 70 degrees between our low and high temperatures.
All good things must come to an end.

I think kids are fast to assimilating things. That’s how I see it though. They are still fresh and sharp

we live right on the coast on Scotland and virtually never get snow, I think it was five years ago the last time we had enough snow to make a snowman like that!
Kids love it though

There will always be the good family memories, I would like to play with snow someday, I think my joints will not like it
It can certainly take it's toll on adults, especially as we get older.

It's good to know that your grandkids could adapt to the weather, and it is amazing how tey cope with it and adults can't even stand it. Kids are excited to play outside where they can have enough space. I'm sure your youngest grandson had so much fun with his dad as they made the big snowman.

Wow the snow must have really been quite heavy. Hope it didn't destroy things that much
It was not too much snow and it melted within a week, so no significant damage that I have heard.
This snow took me to my childhood when we used to make snowman in the winters.

I would love to make something like this myself but it doesn't snow where we live so we have to travel 10 hours to see it.
