A new visitor to our place

A few years ago, my Father-in-Law made Bluebird houses for all of us and the adult grandkids.

These are very simple and are supposed to attract Bluebirds.

I was skeptical. I had never seen a Bluebird since we moved here 15 years ago.

I finally got it put up in our yard this spring, according to Dad's instructions.

Again, still skeptical; I thought it looked more like a bat house, but that was okay with me because we have a couple of bat houses, and one more would be okay since they eat a lot of insects.

After I put it up, we waited to see if any Bluebirds appeared.
I was still wondering how a Bluebird is supposed to know that this house is for them.

Well, to my surprise, this little guy showed up last week with some of his friends. They are using the Bluebird house just like Dad said.

My father-in-Law turns 90 years old in July this year. When will I stop questioning him, lol

Until next time,

That's a good lesson from the elderly.
We should listen and learn from them.

Wow! That's an awesome share John. I checked out your link and it looks like the Eastern Bluebird should be in our parts as well. I remember hearing their songs. Now you got me thinking about a bird house.

You Father-in-law can say I told you so. !lol

Family was over today and I had my 2 year old grandson checking out some Nuthatch. The look on his face was priceless when I made a call and the bird came within inches of our face.

Thanks again for the share. Got me thinking of some posting ideas.

My late daughter loved to paint birdhouses. Some boy scouts sold unfinished houses at the local credit union. Andrea would paint them and decorate them with stencils. her siblings have them in their yards now, usually occupied. One year we got a Tufted Titmouse family instead of bluebirds. They were also tiny birds, welcome in any back yard. !BBH

Thank you so much for your Blue bird house and Blue bird post, John! What a gorgeous little bird!
The birds appreciate you sharing your yard so much because they are losing so much habitat in the wild. Thank you again! Barb :) !BBH !CTP

Apparently, the bluebirds know it's for them. I am kind of a see-it-to-believe-it person myself. Nice pictures, John.
Hope the bluebirds like their house.

You're welcome, John! We have all kinds of critters hanging out around here and we haven't even made any houses for them.
Don't leave out any food either. We get to see them on the security camera videos. One of them found a partially eaten corn dog and dragged it up onto the windowsill on the front of the house.
Have a great day😆
