Voices in our head

The voices in our head creep in every morning.
The thoughts generated constantly bringing us down.
To keep them from stopping our dreams and goals.
We must do some work taking action daily.
It all starts with ourselves as we are in control.
It is us that chooses the state of the day.
The work we must do is counter to what is happening.
Stand in front of the mirror and repeat through out the day.
Affirmations spoken loudly with purpose against the voices in our head will change the voices into positive as you realise all your dreams and goals.
All that is standing in our way is the voices in our heads.

Mindset matters get out your way.

Me and little Eva here have decided that we are going to go foraging every day we can, we live in the countryside in the UK and a lot of free food grows abundantly there.

With the cost of living sky rocketing with no sign of stopping it makes sense to accumulate and use what resources we can that is FREE or very cheap.

Growing your own food is also another good way to bring down the cost of living if you can, you don't need a garden some suitable and well situated pots will do out side a front door, in a yard even on a roof or window sill.

Foraging for and growing or raising our own food is not new our ancesters did it just fine for years, we just got spoilt by convenience is all.

It is important that we learn about our environment instead of just living in it.

Here are 3 items me and Eva found 2 are edible and one is not can you guess which is not edible without looking it up on the internet.

Hawkthorn

Elderberries

Horse Chestnut

Be careful when foraging for FREE food, if you are not sure don't eat it, there are many copies of edible food that are not edible. Get to know your environment read books and use apps as well as ask people in the know.

Try not to pick food too close to farms or road sides because these can get contaminated with pesticides and exhaust fumes.

Wash everything before use and if you want to eat as you go take some water with you to wash it.

We took a rest on a bench opposite a memorial for some dead air men.

We saw this house with some planes on a thatched roof we thought it was interesting

I have to admit that I cheated a bit, but it turns put the Horse Chestnuts are poisonous, that said you will need to cook the elder berries too to neatralize their poison.

Yes the Hawthorn is good for jelly and medicinal uses and elderberries make great jam and cordial the horse chestnuts are very bad to eat but great for conkers 🤣

I totally agree with you regarding the "voices in our head". This is one of the reasons I try to start the day out thinking about what I am thankful/grateful. There are so many edible items in the wild but also poisonous as well, most have forgotten about which is which. I think the non-edible of the three is the hawkthorn but this is only a guess. I have heard of elderberry wine and jam so assume that is safe to eat but do not know about the horse chestnut either. Take care.

It is the Horse Chestnut that is non edible the hawthorn are good for making into jelly so are edible they have a nutty flavour and is a very useful plant all round for medical as well.

As to your question about the edibility of the plants that you mentioned, hawthorn is edible, elderberry is edible after cooking, and horse chestnut not so edible. Yes mate that is my thinking too, it is good exercise as well, Eva is super smart for her age, so she is a sponge for knowledge and just wants to learn about the world like yesterday 🤣
