Scooter or cycle

Getting to work isn't a hassle because the shop is close to my house. However, I have to use the bus and that can be frustrating because I have to rely on bus times.

For the most part, buses in Nottingham are reliable. In fact, Nottingham City Transport is one of the best in the country but at the same time, I feel stifled by the fact that I have to rely on the buses to get to work can be frustrating.

On top of that, I have to spend around £70 per month on transport. I don't even go out as much, so for the most part, I'm spending all that money to enter bus for a couple of minutes.

The bus situation has got me thinking about getting my own transportation. On top of saving money, I'd also save plenty time because I no longer have to wait for buses.

My options are between getting a car, a moped, a bicycle and of course, an electric scooter. Out of the lot, I know how to drive a car, a bicycle and scooter but don't have any experience on a moped. Although I don't think the moped will be that much different from a bicycle, I'd rather not drive a vehicle that I'm not confident with on roads that I'm also not too familiar with.

I don't have a UK driver's license and I can't afford a car, so that's ruled out. This then leaves me with two options; Bicycle or electric scooter.

Either of them would be fun. I could get a second hand bicycle for about £100 or a brand new scooter from Currys for a little bit more than double the price of a bike.

Both have similar utility but bike doesn't need its batteries recharged. Then again, if it's about going to work and back home, I'll be able to do it with one charge since it'll only take about ten minutes to get to work from home.

Bikes require a bit more maintenance than an electric scooters and that's the deciding factor for me. So, I reckon I'll be going with the electric scooter.

On top of getting me to work, a scooter will generally make getting around easier. It consumed less space and I reckon I'll get one as soon as I can.

I like the electric scooter; at a speed of 25 km/h I soar like a bird through the city.

Sounds like fun. Which scooter do you use?

I was on a similar situation a few months ago, I live exactly 1km from my work place so I usually walk and the way to the shop is almost downhill but its not too steep, for me to get an electric scooter meant spending on one with lot of power to get over that hill going back home so decided it was best to keep the cardio going so I went with a bike, in 5 years Ill be 40 so better keep my legs strong, we do have a car though but the traffic is awful in the morning, be careful with the electric scooter at first, they do pack some punch that can caught you out of balance, stay safe ✌️

You're 4 years older than me and I have to say, that is very impressive. I used a super pedestrian electric bikes a few times and they handle slopes well but I'm not sure my calves can take the strain if it weren't powered.

If you think an electric scooter is less maintenance than a bike then I reckon that’s not accurate! Also the bike is a one time buy. You have to charge the scooter and that costs money, though I guess you could probably charge it at work but they might harass you for that.

You should do the bike - it’s also important for your physical health. We can’t be physically lazy! There’s enough people that are lazy in the world, get a bit of exercise!
