No more Warri-es

It's been a couple of months of planning but we're finally in Warri. The trip was a lot smoother than I thought it would be and it was all because we paid twice the normal cost.

We started the day by arranging our clothes and getting our bags in order. We wanted to ensure we don't forget any of our bags, so we moved swiftly but purposely to ensure that we don't leave anything behind.

My mum was her typical self too, trying to ensure we carry as much load as possible, despite my numerous plea for us to lighten the load. She's always insistent and thanks to her, I always end up with unexpected blessings that I would have ended up abandoning.

Anyway, instead of using public transport to Warri from Yenagoa, we booked a taxi but it was actually a private car. Instead of paying 13,000 for the trip, we paid 25,000 and that includes the added convenience of getting us to the house.

If we had paid 13,000, we would have had to get down with all our bags and then hustle our way to the house with another cab that would end up charging us around 5,000 anyway because we had a lot of bags. That would have been very annoying and tedious, so overall, I think paying double was fair value.

Meet the parents

It's been a bit over two years since we saw the parents and as you can imagine, there's a lot of excitement in the air. It was very refreshing to hug my wife's parents and just like my parents, everyone said we added weight.

If we're being too technical, I actually haven't added as much weight as they think. I still fit into my wedding suit, none of my clothes are tighter and I'm currently wearing a medium sized shirt that I borrowed from my wife.

Anyway, I guess saying we added weight is a euphemism for "you look good" but I guess it's that grown man weight. In any case, I'll take it.
