Liquidation

Over the years, I've found that selling my assets is one of the most difficult things to do. I don't know what it is but I struggle with letting go of anything I own but right now, I really don't have a choice.

I don't have much of a choice now that it is official that we're moving and this means I'll be selling pretty much all the stuff in our house. I honestly wish I could take them all with me but traveling with so much load will only lead to unnecessary expense and a lot of logistical stress.

I didn't even know there was a high demand for household appliances and stuff like that until I decided to sell. In less than 48 hours, I've had numerous people lobbying to buy up the appliances and things in the house.

Most of the items in my house are relatively new, so people are looking to get a good deal. If you also factor in the effects of inflation on the prices of goods, you'd find that most people are happier to buy trusted brands at second hand value than unknowns at first hand rate.

Also, people tend to prefer buying items that someone else has used and vouches for. It is obviously a risk but to most people here, it is equally risky to buy new goods that could still end up giving you issues.

Personally, I don't subscribe to that reasoning but then again, it might just be about the depth of pocket and squeezing out the best deal. It was a similar consideration for me when I was buying my car that is also currently up for sale.

A couple of months ago, I ran the idea of liquidating my assets with a friend and he already indicated interest in many items in the house. One of the items included the car that someone else had already indicated interest in buying.

I thought it would take a bit longer than it did for people to start indicating interest in buying. Fortunately for me, I was wrong and even the car that is my most expensive asset will soon have a new owner.

Things are moving at the pace I hoped they would move and we're slowly getting closer to migration. We'll take it one day at a time, slowly moving towards our target.

Oh nice. I have relations near boy in Mansfield. They put their glass eyes in their drinks whenever they go to the toilet so no one will steal their drinks. 😄
