It's getting colder

In my first week in Nottingham, I worked in a freezer, so I know what it's like to be in the cold. However, temperatures outside weren't as cold, so at least there was some respite.

Right now, it's actually freezing and what's worse, daylight refuses to come. I guess these are the early signs of winter.

I'm from sub Saharan Africa, so I'm not used to these cold temperatures. Anything below 10 degrees is considered extreme, so you can imagine how chilling 3 degrees feels.

What I can say for myself at least is that I'm handling the situation much better than I thought I would. I'm still wearing only shorts and a shirt, despite the temperature.

I've generally been good with cold. It's the heat that gets to me but right now, I'm experiencing a cold like never before.

My thumbs are numb, neck hair standing and there's goosebumps all over. It's a new and strange feeling that while I may like, I'd rather not experience. Everything in the extremes always seem to stress me.

We'll be taking extra steps to deal with the cold in the coming weeks. We'll get our own room heater and some thermal clothes that will help us stay warm.

Oh think you are in for a real treat when the UK winters actually starts to kick in 💨🌧️🥶🥶

Hope the other stuff makes it worth it because I don't think you moved to the UK for the weather 😅

One thing I remember from living in a colder climate is that you go so long without sweating that when a warm day comes around there's a prickling sensation when sweat glands start to activate. I don't experience that in south Texas as we don't get too many cold days in a row.

I think you'll enjoy snow. Cold is bearable, except when it's windy.

It’s something you get used to and will also look forward to perhaps in a year or two’s time. The changing of the seasons is a wonderful thing!
