Is it time to FOMO in?

I was raised the old fashioned way and so I consider myself an old fashioned guy that embraces classic morals. Things like respecting your elders, dignity in labour and slow money are concepts that were grilled into me.

I've largely not deviated from the things that were taught to me and even in crypto, you'd find that my insistence on staking for long term dividend against day trading and leveraging the wicked volatility in this space is further evidence of my nature.

I've been watching the market lately and Daddy Bitcoin has been doing some mad numbers. There will be new billionaires at the end of this run and there will also be people that get rekt because of FOMO.

I don't know how to jump on a bandwagon that moving. I always feel like I've missed out on the train whenever it starts moving and I'm not on it, so I sit tight, patiently waiting for the next one. In Kaduna-Abuja railway, there's a trip every 4 hours but in crypto, that train could come back after months or even years.

Playing the waiting game, especially in times of plenty for one asset sort of stings a bit, because I keep beating myself up about how I watched this asset grow and hate my powerlessness to buy in the past.

A big reason for not being able to buy into most projects is that most of my funds are locked up in solid projects and a lot of potential. These are projects with a fairly good chance to run up to astronomical figures but just as I said, in crypto, the train doesn't come that regularly.

For some assets, like Ethereum and Bitcoin to be specific, life could never be better. Bitcoin keeps setting new ATHS while Ethereum is on its way to $1000 and God knows how high it will rise.

I'm watching the price of Ethereum in particular, and asking myself why I didn't buy when it was extremely low value. I mean, I could have literally bought a couple pieces back when it dropped to around $100 but here I am now, wondering if I should buy a fraction of the coin and then hope it runs up to an ATH.

Watching the whole thing unfold makes buying into ETH now feel like a loss, regardless of if it pumps to an ATH. Perhaps I'm dwelling on the past, while licking a self inflicted wound or maybe it is something more. Whatever the case, I'm starting to wonder if I should embrace FOMO and just act based on it sometimes.

Ah man, those emotions of FOMO striking hard hey? We are in unchartered territory now and no one knows where things will go but, if it helps, I got in at 2017 ATH and saw my portfolio evaporate 94% in some coins but stuck with BTC and it's up 3 years later. If you wait long enough, things will change!

Trouble is, as my brother said to me yesterday, whatever you decide, it will be wrong anyway 😀

I'm just going to wait it out. Hopefully Leo pumps substantially in the coming months. Losing 94% of your portfolio, holy shit man, you have balls of steel.

I think that Leo is probably going to be shining bright as the year goes on with all the developments. May have a slight retrace after the airdrop but all exciting times ahead!

It's definitely been a ball-testing period, that's for sure :D

I have no idea actually, heard it was going to be this month but no worries, I'm just staking what I have anyway. I know there's another airdrop soon for 3Speak tokens based on Hive Power so plenty of reasons to stake on top of the usual ones!

Oh nice. I just canceled my Power down I did a month ago. Wanted to keep a healthy chunk of Leo liquid since the Airdrop will lead to a rush for Leo tokens.

Yeah man, that's a good idea - airdrop fever is real! I just checked LeoDex holy shiiiiiiii! 2.6 HIVE per Leo now! I'm just powering up what I get from author rewards rather than buying off the market now, if you know when the airdrop is, you might make some good moves with it ;)

(Edited)

My thoughts exactly. With enough marketing, it could reach 4Hive per Leo. I increased my Hive delegation to Leovoter as well.

I'd say it's not too late. It will probably be too late in 8-9 months from now, but there's still time. Some haven't even reached their previous ATHs.
