I finally got a job

Pleased to say that I finally got a job and while it's not the sales role I was looking for, I'm happy that I'll finally start earning a paycheck. This job is the culmination of all my efforts to find a job and I'm just pleased to have finally gotten it over the line.

I'm really glad that I've gotten something to do in the short term. This is just the first step of a series of goals that I've set for myself to achieve in the next couple of years.

I'll be starting my first of many shifts as early as 7am tomorrow and it'll be at a warehouse that produces dog food. The terms of my contract were quite elaborate but I glanced through various parts of it and the most notable part is that I'm technically working for the recruitment agency.

There's also the part where it states that the company reserves the right to fire me whenever they feel like. This means that while I'll be employed, I certainly can't be too comfortable.

Anyway, I got employed on a full time basis but there's no real binding agreement. Whenever I decide to, I can simply just quit the job as well.

Seeing that part of the contract really stung deep because it clearly shows how dispensable I am to the company. Obviously, my goal is to ensure that I'm less dispensable, so my short term savings will be towards getting certifications that will make me less dispensable.

I've been exploring a couple of them and I've seen some in various fields. As I work my way out of poverty, I'll be directing resources towards taking some courses or trainings in fields like Forklift driving or simply just bus driving to get a license.

I'm still new in the system but I think I have a general idea about how growth works around here. There's a step by step process to it or should I say, there's a ladder and as you climb up, it gets less crowded and the completion is even fiercer.

Anyway, filling out the application forms and whatnot proved to be the most difficult part about the job. I got so occupied with filling out the necessary details, I missed one other job interview that was scheduled for today.

Anyway, now that I've gotten one job, I believe it will open more doors for more to come around. I also have a different interview that's scheduled for tomorrow evening and I'll attend it on my way back from work.

Overall, I'll say I'm pleased to have gotten the ball rolling but at the same time, I still have to be on my toes. As @travelwritemoney mentioned, you never really stop looking over your shoulder and even while I'm working, I'll have to keep my head on the swivel.
