Baby Cham is all I could get

There's no such thing as "the right beer". The way I see it, it's all about perspective and a bunch of other factors that determine how one responds to beer.

Back in Nigeria, I already had my regulars, so whenever I stop at a drink shop, I already know what to expect and so, I know what matches my mood. In the UK, I've still not reached that level because of a combination of a couple of factors with finance right at the top of the list.

Beer is readily available and at a moderate price. It's not as cheap as what you'd pay in Nigeria but for the UK, some of the drinks I've had are quite cheap.

I checked the price of Jack Daniel and there's no way I'm paying 20 quid for a bottle of whiskey, I'm sorry. I simply cannot afford that.

Whiskey though, is exactly what I'm craving but alas, too poor for that right now, so I decided to experiment instead. Actually, pretty much every drink I've had in the UK fall under experimentation because I don't drink often(weekends only) and like I said earlier, I'm too poor to try out drinks as much as I'd like.

In any case, I stumbled into Baby Cham, a cheap 4-pack that costs around £1.8 if I recall rightly. It is somewhere between Cider, white wine and beer but I must say, it is good value for money and I highly recommend.

It's like the best of all worlds as it fuses so much together into one rich mix. It has that bubbly sparkling wine effect when it comes in contact with your tongue and bubbles all the way down into your stomach.

I guess the name, Baby Cham, was designed to mirror the gentle nature of the flavour.

I guess considering how cheap the drink is, it is only fair that the presentation looks like very little effort was put into it but it is pretty basic and not enticing to look at.

If you're like me that has wine as a weakness then it's best you drink in small quantities and stay hydrated while sipping slow.

Overall, Baby Cham is an interesting sparkling beer cider thingy that will save you a penny. It is not what I wanted but it's what I could afford and well, I'm not complaining.

Unless you’re an 18 year old girl from 1974 you really shouldn’t be drinking Baby Cham 😂

It’s actually a perry which means it’s made using the same process as cider but with pears instead of apples.

I’m surprised you managed to find it. It was a big brand 50 years ago but you rarely see it nowadays. One of the first jobs I had was part-time working at a local pub and there were a couple of dusty old bottles of Baby Cham on the back shelf. I swear they must have been there 20-years already.

If you’ve got a Lidl or an Aldi near you then those are the places to shop

Lmao. I drank a piece of history. It was the only one on the shelf. Got it at Iceland in Bulwell.
