Always on the move

Every second counts and I like to think that on the balance of play, I've done my best to ensure that things keep moving. It hasn't always been easy here but I've always made decisions that are in favour of the greater good.

For example, I've been doing night shifts because I want the day to be available to do other things. I'd only quit night shifts at a warehouse when an opportunity with a more long term plan comes along.

These days, I've adjusted even more to the rigours of nightshift. In the past, I barely got enough sleep and it made every night shift feel horrible but these days, I'm getting a few more hours.

I won't say I've fully adjusted to night shifts and frankly speaking, I will probably leave immediately a day shift with a less physically demanding job comes along but until then, this is what I've got and this is what I will work with.

Naturally, I give my 100% whenever I'm at the warehouse. I try to move as fast as I can while adhering to all the safety standards we were taught.

A new contract

Anyway, on a slightly different note, I got confirmation from the writing agency that I'll be starting pretty soon. They'll send me a brief to complete in two working days and they will pay me for it.

I'm guessing this first stage is about testing how well I'll work with the editing team and also, explain how invoicing works. I'm not going to lie, I really hate writing invoices but I will do it, regardless.

Even though the pay for the writing gig isn't exactly much to be excited about, I see it as a bit more income that could go a long way in improving our finances and help us to reach our financial targets sooner.

This writing job will inevitably take its toll on me but I'll be fine in the long run. Fortunately for me, I've kept my skills sharp through daily publications on Hive, reading other authors' posts and also reading content outside the community.

It’s cool you have a writing gig. I need to find one.
I worked night shift for two months and then day shift for a month, for 2 years, and I enjoyed it.
Fewer bosses
Fewer cases or volume
More time to do each case and interact with the people.
I hope it works out for you.
