A taste of Istanbul
Today we start our 19 hour trip to London. It's a connecting flight with one layover at Istanbul.
I wonder if there's any member of the Hive community that's living in Instanbul and can come keep us company at the airport. It would be nice to make a friend while we're in transit.
I think @muratkbesiroglu is in Turkey but I don't know if he'll be in Instanbul and will also be able to keep us company at the airport. Annyway, we'll try to make the most of our time there.
Airport food tends to be very pricey and since we're quite broke, I'll not be buying anything. However, if I see something cheap to buy, I'll take a punt.
Technically, we won't be entering Istanbul since we aren't permitted to explore the city but there is a chance that we could taste their cuisine. It would be really nice to get a taste of turkey and I'd love some recommendations of some very cheap options I could try.
A bit nervous
This will be our first international flight and hopefully, the first of many to come. Even though I don't exactly like flying, it is still the safest way to travel and I've always wanted to visit different countries.
My nerves are all over the place due to the number of variables to deal with. At the end of the day though, all I can do is calm my self as we edge towards the next phase of life.
For now, we're still in Nigeria and getting ready to check in. I'll drop an update when we finally arrive at Turkey.
If I’m not wrong @chorock is there
You will be on the international side of the airport so you won't be able to see anybody as they would have to go through into the transit area. Safe travels.
Ah shyte. I didn't know. Thanks
food is quite expensive in the airport, but a taxi to town is around 7-10$, and a meal there can be 5-10$ for both of you, a nice one. once in London, are you staying or just in holiday?
Safe travels mate, you got this!
You will probably land at Istanbul Airport. It is half an hour far from my home. Unfortunately, I am not in Istanbul. I am on vacation in Dikili, a coastal town near the Aegean Sea.
That's true. Istanbul airport's ambiance is good, though. I hope you will have an excellent time there.
I spent my only time in Germany in the airport in Munich years ago. It was a wild experience because I made a mistake and frantically needed to go back in lol that was brutal!
