A different kind of thrill

So I got a call from an agency looking to onboard freelance writers. They said they liked what I had to offer and will like to work with me on a freelance basis.

First of all, I'd like to add that I am mildly disappointed that it's not a full time role but at the same time, there's a weird kind of relief I feel from knowing that it's not a full time role.

What I mean is, I'd like to work full time for a team but being a permanent staff means that you will not be paid for how much you work. You clock in your hours and that's about it.

I'd like to be stable at this current job, build up a head of steam, get in the hours and grow in the organization. Word is that my performance could lead to some added benefits and so, I figured it'll be for the best to just be here for now.

I think the night shift doesn't quite feel as brutal as it used to feel because I actually enjoy performing the task at this job. Driving those PPTs, scanning and sorting those boxes is a simple but important and fun activity that I've grown to enjoy.

Enjoying the job makes time move a lot faster. So, all I'm saying is that I like it here.

Freelancing continues

The good news is that I got a new freelance job that will give me the flexibility I need from a second job. I'd be paid stipends for the articles I write but honestly, the requirement are so easy to meet, I think I'd be making close to my main income through it.

Getting paid by the article challenges me to churn top quality jobs at a faster rate. The more I write, the more I earn and that's not so bad, if you ask me.

So, yeah, that's my situation and while all this is going on, I'll continue applying for jobs in various fields that align with my qualifications. I am pleased with the way things are going and I intend to continue improving myself in every possible way.

How are you feeling about the cost of living? Is it a shock or is it closer than what most people imagine for some things? I talked to your sister about that and I know she travelled abroad but we talked about it over a year ago and the inflation everywhere is crazy, everything is so fluid, changing constantly. Man I have lots of questions. I’ve been lazy with the podcast but if you or your wife are down I would love to talk on there at some point.

I'd love to get on the podcast. Lets talk on Discord to work something out.

We had done research about most things, so it's not been too shocking. It is just what we imagined but every now and then, something surprises me.

Awesome! I'm really spread thin so I am not sure when I'll be ready to do it but I want to do it for sure. Let's stay in touch.

Sounds like me in Japan. I wasn't surprised by most of it, but some things are just forever strange.
