Postage Stamp - Paintings by P.A. Fedotov - The Fastidious Bride 1847 - USSR 1976 - Michel 4488 - my hobby.

Greetings friends!

When I started publishing about postage stamps, from time to time I saw comments that said that philately was already dead, but, after a while, other comments from my friends appeared, which made me very happy.

People will remember the postage stamps that have been gathering dust for many years in the attic.

Perhaps you will say that this is nothing special, but I will say it differently: Today, we are making history and a contender for a turning point in philately, in general.

Later I will write about my thoughts and motives that prompted me to start publishing on a not very popular topic - postage stamps. In the meantime, I am watching the situation.

It's funny. In childhood, probably the most interesting postage stamps were those that had an attractive appearance and were bright.

Such stamps, indeed, aroused admiration, and the brighter the postage stamp, the more valuable it seemed.

But this is not always the case.

Sometimes, a nondescript piece of paper can cost many times more than the brightest picture.

A series of postage stamps is considered complete when it contains all the postage stamps issued to the public.

This is our goal and I will not look at whether this postage stamp is attractive to you or not, I have to end the series.

Today, I want to continue my story about a series of postage stamps by the Russian painter of the nineteenth century, Fedotov.

As I said earlier, his paintings are caricatures of the life of the aristocracy in tsarist russia.

Another postage stamp The Fastidious Bride shows us the matchmaking.

A line of grooms lined up for the opportunity to receive recognition from a very picky and fastidious bride.

The word love, here, is inappropriate.

Only the word "cold calculation" is what the artist wanted to show in this picture.

Not surprisingly, these paintings ended up on postage stamps.

Making fun of the bourgeoisie and aristocracy, this was the main line of propaganda in the USSR. This created the minds of people and made their thoughts move in the direction necessary for the political bureau.

This postage stamp is a novelty of 4 kopecks of the USSR, and its circulation is one million copies less than the circulation of the previous postage stamp.

I have not seen sales of this postage stamp separately, and I indicated an approximate price range, taking into account the difference in circulation.

Important!

  1. Please note that the cost of shipping postage stamps to other countries can be many times more expensive than the postage stamp itself, approximately $ 5.5.

  2. I see that it is not profitable to purchase one postage stamp if, suddenly, you need to replenish your collection. It is always more profitable to purchase the entire series, and, surplus, to change, or sell.

  3. If you decide to buy a postage stamp online, be careful. sometimes sellers use stock images. But this option is unacceptable. You need to see exactly the product that you are buying.

  4. If you are afraid that the postage stamp sellers will want to deceive you, you are doing the right thing, do not doubt it.

  5. To get started with this hobby, buy a good magnifying glass, tweezers with flat and thin edges and a stockbook for postage stamps, they will come in handy.

  6. When buying postage stamps, pay special attention to the back of the postage stamp. The adhesive layer must not be damaged.

  7. There is such an expression - How many people, so many opinions, this also applies to sellers of postage stamps. Each of them believes that his postage stamp is in perfect condition, but only you yourself can find the perfect postage stamp for yourself.

  8. Sometimes, a small, white scrap of paper with a round stamp on it and a number inscribed in the center circle can be a very valuable postage stamp from the days when postage stamps were not printed.

  9. The cost of a postage stamp is determined by supply and demand, but usually in catalogs you can see the estimated cost of a postage stamp in Pounds Sterling.

To be continued.

For my publications, I do not use stock photographs, it is fundamentally important for me to use photographs that I have made with my own hands for publication and I can name them - authorial work.
