Life just happens. That hits deeply because it is the plain truth. Being powerless in a situation you have the needed element to fix is one of the... phew, it is a feeling that can not be said in just one word to me.
It is sad, though, when we hope people will truly do things for us. I have met with disappointments in life to fully scrap this off. People will always be people. They can be there and not there.

Well, like you said life happens. I've had endless bouts of slips into depression, Saturday was the worst mental breakdown I've had in over 3 months. It came from the feeling of helplessness and being alone. It's truly a terrible place to be in.
It truly is, and I am so sad and angry you had to go through that alone. I am so sorry. I just hope you'll continue hanging there for us all.
