A new experience at FILBo2024(EN-ES)

Greetings, my dear friends! I hope you are well, healthy and well being and that it is a Sunday of tranquility, rest and family sharing.

This weekend I have made the most of it, because yesterday we went as a family to visit the FILBo 2024. The International Book Fair of Bogota is a world-renowned cultural event, this year is the 36th edition and for me it is the second time I visit it. FILBo attracts thousands of visitors every year, and during this event, the Colombian capital becomes the epicenter of the literary world, with many interesting activities ranging from book presentations and conferences to meetings with renowned authors.

In this edition of the fair, which began on April 17 and will run until May 2, Brazil is the guest of honor and the slogan is #leelanaturaleza as a way of combining literature and, at the same time, reflecting on nature and the environment.

¡Saludos, mis queridos amigos! Espero que se encuentren muy bien, con salud y bienestar y que sea un domingo de tranquilidad, descanso y compartir familiar.

Este fin de semana lo he aprovechado al máximo, pues ayer nos fuimos en plan familiar a visitar la FILBo 2024. La Feria Internacional del Libro de Bogotá es un evento cultural de renombre mundial, este año es la 36.ª edición y para mí es la segunda oportunidad que la visito. La FILBo atrae a miles de visitantes cada año, y durante este evento, la capital colombiana se convierte en el epicentro del mundo literario, con muchas actividades interesantes que van desde presentaciones de libros y conferencias hasta encuentros con autores de renombre.

Esta edición de la feria que comenzó el 17 de abril y se extenderá hasta el 2 de mayo, Brasil es el país invitado de honor y el lema es #leelanaturaleza como una forma de conjugar la literatura y, al mismo tiempo, reflexionar sobre la naturaleza y el ambiente.

From the moment we entered the fairgrounds, we sensed the hustle and bustle and excitement of events like this. The aisles are lined with stands of local and international publishers, each displaying a wide variety of books covering every genre imaginable. From classic literature to the latest in science fiction, there is something for all tastes and ages, and in my mind's eye the thought comes to mind: How much there is to read! There is not enough in one lifetime, and I don't think even two, to read all that is written in the world.

Desde que ingresamos al recinto ferial, percibimos el bullicio y la emoción que se viven en eventos como este. Los pasillos están llenos de stands de editoriales locales e internacionales, cada uno exhibiendo una amplia variedad de libros que abarcan todos los géneros imaginables. Desde la literatura clásica hasta las últimas novedades en ciencia ficción, hay algo para todos los gustos y edades y en mi mente solo llega el pensamiento ¡Cuánto hay para leer! No alcanza una vida, y creo que ni dos para leer todo lo que hay escrito en el mundo.

One of the main attractions of the fair are the book presentations and autograph signing sessions with nationally and internationally recognized authors. We saw
many people from afar around their favorite writers, asking them questions and taking home a unique souvenir in the form of a signed book.

This year saw the launch of Gabriel García Márquez's posthumous novel See you in August and, in addition, the 100th anniversary of La vorágine, a novel by Colombian writer José Eustasio Rivera, is being celebrated.

Una de las principales atracciones de la feria son las presentaciones de libros y las sesiones de firmas de autógrafos con autores reconocidos tanto a nivel nacional como internacional. Vimos
a lo lejos a mucha gente alrededor de sus escritores favoritos, hacerles preguntas y llevarse un recuerdo único en forma de libro firmado.

En este año, se hizo el lanzamiento de la novela póstuma de Gabriel García Márquez Nos vemos en agosto y, además, se están celebrando los 100 años de La vorágine, novela del escritor colombiano José Eustasio Rivera.

After living such an enriching experience, we went to share a family dinner where we talked about the fair and other topics that made the moment very pleasant and enjoyable.

I say goodbye with the desire to return to FILBo next year to live, once again, the experience in this fascinating world of books that I love so much.

Luego de vivir una experiencia tan enriquecedora, nos fuimos a compartir con una cena familiar en la que conversamos de la feria y de otros temas que hicieron el momento muy ameno y agradable.

Me despido con el deseo de volver a la FILBo el próximo año para vivir, una vez más, la experiencia en este fascinante mundo de los libros que tanto me gusta.
