Honor In Money: The Concept Of Generosity

And we are back! Last time we covered the concept of stinginess. Moreover, we covered the meaning of Honor and how it applies to money. While we will still discuss Honor and how it pertains to you monetarily, we won't go into too much in detail in this piece. I urge you, if you are curious about the subject, to check out the previous article. 🙂

Honor is a fickle mistress. If we are Honorable to our nature we feel like we are on top of the world. But our nature can lie to us, it could give us false confidence. Even when doing something objectively good like generosity it can still lead us astray.

And there is the other side of the coin, people that act in service to themselves by shallowly serving others. They will lavish you with gifts while holding the knife behind their backs. These power games have been played since the dawn of time. Destroying even the most selfless acts, as selfish. Generosity is chief among these.

🔷 I reinstate my opinion on the topic: There are no right or wrong answers when it comes to money.

Period, full stop. Our tendencies are our own, and as we discussed in our previous conversation about Honor - they are precious. Now I know what you are thinking: how can being generous be considered a bad thing? We are not here to discuss this. We are here to philosophize and explore topics our mind rarely ventures towards. Not to pass judgment.

HONOR OF "BEING GENEROUS"

Being Honorable could have its downsides. If anyone has watched and / or read Game of Thrones, they would know what happens to Ned Stark. It's such a good plot point that I won't spoil it here for fear of ruining it for you. But those that know - know.

Being Honorable makes you an easy target. You are easily read by those that pay attention to such things. And refusing to play these games of power will only see you lose more slowly. The world has worked in a particular way for thousands of years, what makes you think your Honorable spirit will grant you browny points?

What am I implying here? Not to help people? Of course not. I'm just making you aware of the order of things. If you are generous with everyone, then someone will abuse you. Use you. This is just how life works. If we do not take advantage of situations, someone will take advantage of us. Being Honorable has its perks, but it has its downsides as well.

By no means am I saying you shouldn't be generous. But do it sparingly. Selectively. Only to those you trust the most. Only to those that you are sure won't abuse the privilege. Those people do exist, and they deserve all of the love and attention you can muster. Because without them we are nothing. ❤️

I caution carefulness. I caution against blind faith. The unprepared soldier is the one that perishes first. But, some might say they are willing to die on that hill. To those I wish luck. As I stated previously, there are no judgments in this article. Only thoughts. Ask yourself what kind of life you would like to lead. We are here but a short time and our decision magnifies the more we go down a specific route.

There is no greater Honor than to be generous. Just be careful you don't reveal your nature to your enemies.

Thanks for stopping by!
